A stunning map published this month by Smithsonian Magazine provides new details about the expansive nature of U.S. military involvement around the world as it relates to the post-9/11 “war on terror.”

Contrary to the narrative that the war is winding down, the map resembles a modern-day version of shows a U.S. military presence akin to the period when the the ‘sun never sat on the British empire.’ Some 17 years after the war began, U.S. military presence globally is expanding and has now spread to more than 40 percent of the world’s countries.

By ‘presence,’ that includes U.S. military and support personnel who are currently engaged in 80 countries on six continents, according to Brown University’s Costs of War Project at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs.

The founders are spinning in their graves, particularly George Washington.

Always remember, we can afford to have military in half the world’s countries. But we CAN’T AFFORD SOCIAL SECURITY. It’s a “Ponzi scheme” and must be dramatically cut back.

Bring our troops home.

Build the wall.

Station troops at said wall and at every airport and seaport in America. Put a few on the Canadian Border, too!

The money saved from NOT operating overseas can beef up ICE and kick the deadbeats OUT.

Every American Wins.

The End. :)

I’ve got no problem with using the military to kill jihadis.

I’ll bet you also want Social Security “reform” to cut benefits, because we can’t afford it, right?

The military is in lots of places to be of service to those needing assistance with training and integration

Folks bitching are pretty mush just misinformed and mostly just stupid.

However, there could be some serious reduction in Italy

Friggin SS probably cost me at least 2 million in retirement money.I had no control on how to invest it over the last 55 years.

So what do you call SS? A good system? Lol!

It provides older Americans with some level of financial security. It was enacted by Republicans as well as Democrats back in the day, and supported by Eisenhower, Reagan, and other Republican leaders down the years.

But today, the neocons want to gut Social Security so they’ll have more money to waste on foreign adventures, nation-building, and invasions and social programs overseas..

I’ll bet you’re one of those neocons who think that, when it comes to foreign wars, interventions, and nation-building, cost is no object, but you can’t abide spending money on our own citizens at home.

Should not be taxed on 85% of SS earnings.Already taxed on that money in first place.

I’m betting the article is counting a handful of military advisors as troops on the ground.
