FULL TITLE: MUST READ: Covington Catholic Student Begs Local TV News to Tell the Truth About Native American Incident In DC
A student at Covington Catholic High School sent a letter Saturday to a local TV station that serves that part of Kentucky, Cincinnati-based WKRC-TV, begging the station to report the truth of an incident Friday in Washington, D.C., involving a Native American man and students from Covington Catholic.
The incident took place at the Lincoln Memorial as the students waited for buses to pick them up after participating in the annual March for Life that day. News reports claimed the students harassed a Native American man named Nathan Phillipsa Vietnam veteranwho was trying to perform a religious ceremony. The students and the school have been viciously attacked online with many threats being made to attack the school children.
As happens too often these days, the media got it wrong. Numerous videos show the students being approached by Phillips and a group of fellow Native American activists who were at the Lincoln Memorial for an Indigenous Peoples Rally that had ended earlier. Videos also show the students being harassed by a group of African-Americans who hurled racist and anti-gay insults at the students.

This issue has me so angry. These kids were minding their own business when they were the ones being taunted by those activists. And then the man with the drum came up to them and banged his drum in the kids face! And the kids are the bad guys??? And I am also angry at the conservatives who instantly condemned them without seeing the total picture. The media who ran with this should be totally ashamed, but the damage was done and they don’t even give a crap that they probably ruined this kids life. My heart breaks for the kids and their families. I hope they sue for libel!!
‘Walking Eagle’ speak with ‘forked tongue’’.
So full of sh*t he cannot fly...
I knew it was some kind of a hoax from the git-go.
“Media - ashamed”?
Surely an oxymoron, eh?
So does the left think that gives him respect, or does that make him a “baby killer”?
This kid is being crucified by the lefts’ lies.
By giving the man banging the drum in the boys face ‘credentials’ of ‘protective classes’, they are saying his version must be accepted without question. And anything he feels is more important than anything else. Just questioning the incident would then make you evil.
One thing for sure, it opened the eyes of those young men. They have just witnessed a life lesson, several actually, which they will never forget.
If he is 64 years old he would have been in high school in 1973 when the last American troops left Vietnam. Maybe he is a “Vietnam era” veteran. I cannot tell you how many times I have had men tell me that they are combat veterans of Vietnam and when I do the math I calculate that they where little boys at the time of the war.
The quality of an elected government will never exceed the quality of the press. We are toast.

Nathan Phillips, the scam artist
Scroll down the page and you will come to an article
The following story originally ran in the Omaha World-Herald on Nov. 26, 2000.
On 11/26/2000, he was 45 years old which means he was born in 1955.
In the article he states he was a Vietnam vet and was in the Marines.
To enlist in the Marines one has to be at least 17 years old with written parental permission AND have a high school diploma.
Assuming (but not likely) that Nathan Phillips graduated from high school in June of 1972 at the age of 17, and immediately enlisted in the Marines, He would then have had to go to boot camp, then SOI and further training which would have taken him to at least the end of 1972, early 1973..
By 1973, the military was already withdrawing troops from Vietnam and had already withdrawn all of them by the end of the year.
I’m 64 years old, graduated HS in 72 and entered the USAF. I was a loadmaster on C-141s and flew missions in country up to and including the evacuation in 75. Not taking up for the guy, just pointing out how its possible to be 64 and a Vietnam vet.
Thank you for your service. I know that there are 64 Vietnam vets out there, but how many were grunts? I do not doubt your service, but I am jaded because I have met so many phonies that I know are lying.
Agree but as you note, most combat troops were pulled by 73. I doubt he was in country.
Within a few days his authenticity as a veteran will be confirmed or not; no doubt there a scores of people doing it now. As was pointed out earlier, it’s possible but very rare.
Has anybody heard where out ‘veteran’ has served...specifically what unit and in what capacity?
