en. Kamala D. Harris of California joined the 2020 presidential contest on Monday, thrusting a daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India into the Democratic race two years after she arrived in the Senate.
Harris, a 54-year-old former prosecutor raised in a state that has been the crucible of the Trump resistance, expanded a growing field of candidates fighting for the nomination of a party that is increasingly nonwhite and fueled by women alienated by the president.
She made the announcement during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and in a video that her campaign posted online.

Yes, people here tend to forget that President Trump's EV blowout was due to a handful of razor-thin wins in battleground states. His victory was also assisted by "Anybody but Hillary" voters who voted for Trump even though they didn't like him and frustrated "Bernie Bros" who stayed home.
Reelection is not guaranteed. Not by a long shot.
Right now the Dems are going to be their own worst enemy with a slate full of angry, scowling, finger-wagging, profanity-spewing radical leftists who will allow President Trump to appear as the only adult in the room. If they wise up and rally behind someone like Beto, who doesn't have a lot of negatives, runs on a message of optimism, and could appeal to both the leftist base and the swing voters, they could win it.
