[Flashback] DOJ Inspector General reviews alleged FISA abuses by DOJ, FBI

[From March 2018]

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced Wednesday he will review potential Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuses by both the Justice Department and the FBI, following requests from Congress and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The Office of the Inspector General released a statement Wednesday outlining the start of the review.

“The OIG will initiate a review that will examine the Justice Department’s and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s compliance with legal requirements, and with applicable DOJ and FBI policies and procedures, in applications filed with the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) relating to a certain U.S. person,” the statement obtained by Fox News read. “As part of this examination, the OIG also will review information that was known to the DOJ and the FBI at the time the applications were filed from or about an alleged FBI confidential source.”

The OIG statement added that Horowitz also would “review the DOJ’s and FBI’s relationship and communications with the alleged source as they relate to the FISC applications.”

The statement continued, “If circumstances warrant, the OIG will consider including other issues that may arise during the course of the review.”

Last month, Sessions directed Horowitz to probe the allegations of government surveillance abuse, in light of memos released on Capitol Hill by the House Intelligence Committee about FBI and DOJ efforts to obtain FISA warrants to surveil Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

“We believe the Department of Justice must adhere to the high standards in the FISA court,” Sessions said in February at a news conference. “Yes it will be investigated. And I think that’s just the appropriate thing the inspector general will take that as one of the matters he’ll deal with.”

Pfffft. All AG’s and IG’s are useless. They spend millions, if not billions, a year pretending to oversee their agencies and usually only issue long winded and silly slaps on the wrist reports.

No one gets fired, no one gets prosecuted, no one goes to jail.

Get rid of all AG/IG’s (isn’t oversight the actual job of Congress?) and use the money to build the wall.

Unfortunately, nothing happened. The article is from almost a year ago. March 2018.

Yep, nearly a YEAR AGO.

They're ALL being BLACKMAILED INTO SUBMISSION. That was CLEARLY the case with Sessions. He recused himself like a scared little boy.

This is what happens when you have a former president (Obama) who was SPYING ON EVERYONE (Congress, SCOTUS, etc.) to include listening to their personal phone calls, reading their personal emails and tracking all of their Internet browsing habits with the help of the AWAN BROS., the FBI, CIA, DOJ, etc..

In March, this story will be a year old. What happened to Horowitz? Is he still alive?

He’s still alive, but I can’t find anything on the FISA abuse investigation on his website:

Any third year law student could have deduced this is all the fruit of a poisoned tree, long ago. The IG needs to be arrested and tried for obstruction, or at least for gross incompetence or negligence for taking so long.

Relax and give it a break. This investigation is not the only function of the IG. As a former IG Assistance and Investigations NCOIC for the 82d Abn Div, the IG is not normally utilized un criminal but rather po procedural inquiries.

Google the Army IG.

Fashionably late to the party. Where has Horowitz been while all this information has been in the press for months? I grant you that he can’t take news or Congressional testimony for his own purposes, but at least he should have been aware that there was serious indications of legal infractions.

The military is different. But their bureaucracy is ridiculous at times too.

Sorry, not giving it a break. The DOJ IG is a perfect example of a total joke.

Nothing changes. No one gets punished. Might as well set up Blue Ribbon Commissions. lol

Horowitz is a member of the deep state. He had to reveal some misconduct in order to maintain his credibility. The FISA courts, Wray and Ball are all part of it.

Maxine Waters - “The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That’s going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it’s never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. They’re going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they can’t get around it. And he’s [President Obama] been very smart. It’s very powerful what he’s leaving in place.”
