If they go by the Heller precedent, NYC’s law will likely be struck as unconstitutional.
People are effectively made scofflaws if they want to defend themselves because in practice, the city is a no-issue jurisdiction.
Only people who can get the few permits that are issue are politically connected friends of the police chief and the mayor.

The wording of the law seems to forbid you from taking a gun from the place of purchase to your home.
