Prebate is designed to provide the basic necessities of life tax FRee for ALL families LEGALLY residing in the USA. They have to have a REAL SSN for ALL family members to qualify, and it is a voluntary prebate; if a family chooses not to take it, they just don’t sign up for it!

And, since the prebate is based on the poverty level for a given family size, it cannot be easily manipulated.

It most definitely is NOT “. . . the equivalent of a welfare payment to low income earners.”

The FAIRtax legislation defunds the IRS two years after adoption, and calls for repeal of the 16th Amendment. Repeal of 16th requires separate legislation, and every Congress that FAIRtax has been introduced, has had companion legislation calling for the repeal of the 16th
Amendment.

Politicians are slippery creatures, and voters need to hold them to account; when they don’t do as they promised, they need to be turned out of office!

I’m in favor of term limits! Term limits would help us drain the swamp!

... since the prebate is based on the poverty level for a given family size...

And who gets to define the poverty level? Can you not hear a politician running for office promising to raise the poverty definition? The "definition" of poverty for a family of 4 when I was teaching the Intro Econ course at a university was $9600. In 2018, it is now defined as $12,140 for an individual and increases by $4,320 for each family member. So a family 4 faces a poverty level of $25,100. Those increases far outstrip inflation over the same period, so the "definition" of poverty itself has changed. It used to be that you could not own a car, a TV, home or much of anything to be poor enough to get public assistance. Now, we are so far off the rails that we give away cell phones to poor people. Try and tell me politicians won't play with the Prebate and I've think I've got a bridge to sell you.
