White House seeks list of programs that would be hurt if shutdown lasts into March

White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has pressed agency leaders to provide him with a list of the highest-impact programs that will be jeopardized if the shutdown continues into March and April, people familiar with the directive said.

Mulvaney wants the list no later than Friday, these people said, and it’s the firmest evidence to date that the White House is preparing for a lengthy funding lapse that could have snowballing consequences for the economy and government services.

The request is the first known inquiry from a top White House official seeking information about the spreading impact of the shutdown, which has entered its fifth week and is the longest in U.S. history. So far, top White House officials have been particularly focused on lengthening wait times at airport security, but not the sprawling interruption of programs elsewhere in the government.

The people spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose Mulvaney’s demand...

Congress did this to themselves,

Do you think maybe the Pubbies did this on purpose? Knowing Pelosi would take over after the election ? Let Trump cut the Gov’t and their hands wouldn’t be on it ?

80%+ of the federal government is unconstitutional. KEEP THE GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN (except for the 20%- constitutional part). Best thing that could ever happen to us. The Liars in the media try to spin how bad it is for us to have the government shut down. But they, of course, are liars.

Among many other things, the unconstitutional $3+ trillion portion of the feds continually drives up a relentless hidden tax: INFLATION. Keep this sucker shut down, and we will enjoy the greatest economic boom America has ever seen.

FREEDOM creates wealth (in the free market).

GOVERNMENT creates poverty (takes people’s money and drives inflation).

The democrats have only been in office for 3 weeks now, and they are already destroying the country.

Bears repeating...

How about providing the White House and entire Congress of people who want to end the (partial) shutdown by sending those 800,000 obviously non essentials the pink slip?

Don’t let the benefits that would accrue to us get swept under the rug.

Considering by March all the government employees would have been two months without a paycheck I'd say all the programs would be hurt.

Less than 25% of federal employees are even part of this shutdown. The rest are still getting paid and working as they normally do.

Mulvaney was asking what programs that will be hurt in those departments impacted by the shutdown. The answer is as I said; after two months without pay all of them. I doubt he was concerned about Defense or Social Security.
