POTUS Trump’s next battle after securing wall funding: Dealing with sanctuary city insurrection
The National Sentnel ^ | 1/25/19 | Jon Dougherty

Posted on 01/25/2019 4:24:08 PM PST by SleeperCatcher

As the partial government shutdown stretches into its fifth week and Democratic leaders continue to refuse even to sit down with President Donald Trump an immigration and border wall funding compromise he offered a week ago, it occurred to me that this isn’t POTUS’ biggest border security issue or even his biggest immigration issue.

It’s sanctuary cities or, in the case of California — home to Pelosi (no irony there) — sanctuary states.

Article IV, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution is generally referred to as the “Supremacy Clause.” According to the Legal Information Institute at Cornell University Law School, when we say, ‘The Constitution is the law of the land,’ that is more than just hyperbole:

It establishes that the federal constitution, and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions. It prohibits states from interfering with the federal government’s exercise of its constitutional powers, and from assuming any functions that are exclusively entrusted to the federal government. It does not, however, allow the federal government to review or veto state laws before they take effect.

It would be nice if more federal judges read and, importantly, followed that mandate, but when judicial activism gets in the way of constitutional interpretation, we get rulings contrary to Article IV, Paragraph 2. But this is why putting constitutionalists on the Supreme Court is all-important.

Yes but the real problem is democrats will not “reform” anything that would limit illegal immigration. Trump has to get the public on their backs or there will be no progress.

Ivwould say it should be voter id. Without voter id, we got the dems taking over the house.

Having a wall is fine but if we don't control or pause legal immigration and end refugees we're not going to have a country.

I saw a Twitter video of the Mall of America, and it might as well be the Mall of Mogadishu. Just dozens of Somalis in their whatever milling about (Note: To you Media Matters mofos, this isn't racist, it's cultural. Somalis are not assimilating, OK?)

The “political pendulum” is swinging left, faster over the past 20-30yrs, than I ever thought it would.

Voter ID just won’t happen; too much to lose for the new leftists, fascists, socialists, anarchists, commies and other subhuman filth.

The demonkkkRATs etc are already taking-over the US House, as more and GOPers retire or die-off. Not enough new Conservative Blood is replacing it.

The US Senate is next; their Geritol-For-Lunch-Bunch-GOP will all be gone with 7-10yrs, and the new leftists, fascists, socialists, anarchists, commies and other subhuman filth will own that Branch.

I hope I’m wrong.

“POTUS Trump’s next battle after securing wall funding...”

Counting the chickens a bit early, aren’t we?

The more likely scenario is this...

1. after 3 weeks, the Rats won’t give a dime for a wall/fence
2. Trump declares a national emergecy
3. a Judge tosses it out
4. Nancy and Schmucky laugh all the way to the bank

How about we make it mandatory that all illegal immigrants live in either California or New York? Let them provide welfare, education, health care and housing.

In exchange, the Democrats get the migrant vote in those states. (Hillary could win the popular vote by 20 million!)

In all honesty, building the “wall” is/was a campaign symbol only. A rally chant. Not a full proof deterent. The real weapon to stop illegal immigration is specfically end chain migration, limit asylum, cut back on visas, tie federal funding to sanctuary status, and eliminate welfare benefits to the undocumented.

He isn’t going to secure wall funding from the Dems.

They will never do that.

Screw judges, screw California politicians. It’s time for California patriots in the State of Jefferson to make themselves known.

You hold the high ground. Start nailing broadsheets on trees declaring your independence. The fat weenies in the big cities don’t have manpower or logistics to stop you.

Seriously, people, when was the last time you walked into a bureaucrat office? These fat, low IQ slobs in the bureaucracy can’t do squat about anything.

That's why I was disappointed there will be no RIF. There are thousands of these bureaucrats in Wash DC and spread throughout the country we can easily do without.

“That’s why I was disappointed there will be no RIF.”

RIF?

Pain in the right iliac fossa? That’s appendicitis.

I haven’t seen that phrase since I flunked out of medical school back in 1953.

Are you OK? Seriously, man, I can call that Indian to beat a drum in your face if you need help.

Can’t this administration fight for more than one cause at the same time?

Your not. We have a number of 30-45 y/o in our family. All college educated, well paid, professional, homeowning, suburban parents. What used to be the backbone of moderately conservative American culture. None of them attend church and are actually openly hostile to religion. They are huge supporters of the LGBTQ agenda, believe in AGW, open or no borders like the digital world they live and work in and are staunchly anti gun. Every one is just slightly less liberal than AOC. They would have no problem voting for her and will no doubt vote for a local clone when one runs. The country is already done. Those of us of a certain age are remembering a time long gone, but we don’t have much time left. We are the past, they are the present, and I can’t imagine who will be the future. I couldn’t even explain todays America to my parent if they came back.

Wall or no wall, voter ID or no voter ID, vote harvesting will destroy our Republic. Nothing more is needed.
