St. Louis’ top prosecutor is accusing the police department of using an “obstructionist tactic” to prevent drug and alcohol testing of cops who were present during the Russian roulette death of their colleague, according to a new report.

In a letter released Tuesday, Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner chronicled the difficulties she says her investigators faced in trying to obtain blood tests of Officer Nathaniel Hendren and his partner in the hours after Officer Katlyn Alix’s shooting death last Thursday.

But the police department notified her office that breath and urine tests were conducted instead by Internal Affairs as per the federal “Garrity” law that protects public servants like police officers.

This case just gets worse. I suspect some sort of sex play with guns was going on.

Killed his girlfriend and claims it was an accident, that one never gets old. He should’ve ran her over with a car, pounded a pint of rum at the scene, and insisted sloppily that it was an accident. If he got the maximum for automobile homicide, he’d be out in 18 months. A year after getting out and completing rehab, it would be like it never happened.

Same type of thing happened here. The chief of police’s wife drops dead in her 30s with no prior health issues. Coroner signs the death certificate and body is cremated within 24 hours.

Vehicular homicide is still a felony. He’d never be a cop again. Probably lose his pension.

It can an should have been drawn by the criminal investigators, with a search warrant. AND by internal affairs for their own purposes.
Garrity means a cop can be compelled to give a statement under the coercion of firing if they do not. However, since it is compelled in violation of their 5th amendment rights, against their will, the internal affairs investigation cannot be used by prosecutors.
IA can use it for training, policies and proceedure examination, and for employment purposes like discipline and firing.

The DA/and criminal detectives needed to get a warrant and do the blood draws on their own, apart from IA. And having IA conduct the whole investigation would be a serious mistake almost guaranteed to blow a criminal care.

Hope they get their act together and nail the surviving retards to the wall.

Gee, it's almost like they wanted to blow the case and let him go (just like Wen Ho Lee).
