Democrats are evil and abortion is murder.
However, I read the entire quote from the governor. His comment was concerning a non-viable fetus. A baby is born with half a brain. What do you do with it? Hook it up to a bunch of tubes and keep it alive indefinitely? No chance it will ever be a functioning human being in any sense of the word.
This happened to some friends of mine. They let it die. I would not question that decision.
The problem is that the governor’s rationale would allow anyone to commit infanticide at birth. There’s no restriction in the law to prevent it. He’s cherry picking to make himself sound reasonable. Yes, anyone would understand that if someone with half a brain was born, it is a difficult situation. Why should the exception open the floodgates. It’s how abortion got legalized in the first place. In case of rape or incest, etc. Murder was not outlawed because you can kill someone in self-defense. Neither should abortion.
A baby is fully formed in the womb by the end of the first trimester. Their hearts start beating at 18 DAYS gestation. No one would ever find out in the third trimester that their baby had half a brain. There have been obstetricians on news shows saying there is NEVER a reason to need an abortion in the last trimester. I am not for abortion, but the woman absolutely can make up her mind well before this, if the baby is health compromised.

I don’t see that situation as abortion.
