When a couple sacrificed their firstborn, they believed that Moloch would ensure financial prosperity for the family and future children. Not any different than modern-day abortion. (”If I have a child I’ll have to quit my profession...we need to save up more money before we have a child...I need to finish school so I can get a decent job before I have a child...”)
And of course the obvious “I can get a $2 million dollar payoff!”
