Liberals (leftists, socialists, etc.) always say that Hitler wasn’t a socialist, he was a fascist. First of all, how are those mutually exclusive? And secondly, even if Hitler ultimately rejected the ideals of socialism, he came to power as a socialist. And once he had the power that socialism requires, no one could stop him from becoming a tyrant. That’s the greatest flaw of socialism: no safety checks on government. Capitalism has flaws, but it is voluntary. It can’t make laws and use them to throw you in prison or execute you.

If you go look on DU, as I occasionally do, they always say that none of the socialist countries were really socialist, but kleptocracies that masqueraded as socialist countries.

They are of course confusing cause and effect. Once you have socialism, a kleptocracy is an inevitable result. Try explaining that to them, of course.

Fascists are socialists that intend to impose socialism on society using force. It’s that simple. Mussolini was one of the first. They were left wing thugs, but I repeat myself.
