Lisa Murkowski WAS primaried out, she turned around and was re-elected by write in. If Susan Collins is defeated in a primary, her replacement will be a communist.
I have a different sort of wild take on what’s going on. McConnell and all republicans were seriously threatened by Koch Brothers and the like before the last election. Koch is a wild-eyed open border puke but supports business types in the repub party for millions at election time.
He told the repubs that they need to kill this border control talk or he’d cut their money off. They were truly threatened.
So, they cannot support Trump with legislation, and they’ve got to speak against Trump’s border control ideas and vote against them or they lose cash.
How do they play this one? They do all in their power to get Trump to take all the heat by declaring some kind of emergency on the border via executive or commander in chief fiat.
They might personally believe in the wall, but their cash flow says to keep their mouths shut. In the meantime, they push Trump toward unilateral action.
Full blown conspiracy wildness, yes. Possible, yes.
