I was under the impression that the law was quite clear on this matter. The president has the power.
This is why the best time to do this was DURING the shutdown. Reopening the government was a terrible blunder and allowed the Senate Republicans to do this.

Don’t blame this all on Mitch McConnell. He is telling Trump that there are 6 or so (scumbag) GOP Senators who will vote in a resolution against Trump declaring an emergency on the Mexico border. The truth is that there is an emergency of masses of invaders coming north from the crappy nations of Central America.
Central America sucks but....NOT MY PROBLEM. Plus the US has been very nice to them. Such as 25% of all Salvadorans live in America. Dems want to make this number 100%.
When Trump first got into office I posted here that he should immediately start a third party and use his influence to build it up. The idea was roundly denounced at the time. Does anyone see my point now? (Go ahead, flame away!)
If McConnell makes this threat again I think that’s what Trump should respond with. Let’s see how Republican party fundraising goes without Trump onboard!
