I’m talking about give-aways to people who expect their daily needs to be taken care of by others, which apparently you approve of.
Let’s put it to you simply. The problem isn’t not enough taxes. The problem is too much spending.
The good news for you is that over the next few years there will be plenty of bitter, envious, confiscatory Leftists to vote for who will gladly spread hard-earned wealth to those who haven’t earned it.
I would have to know what you mean by people who expect their daily needs to be meet. Are you talking about people who receive Social Security Disability? Currently there are approximately 8.5 million people on Social Security Disability in the US. That’s roughly 2.4% of the American population. Considering all the ways the human body can go wrong or be seriously injured yet still survive I find that to be an amazingly low percentage.
I bring up social security disability because a buddy I served with retired about the time I did. He got a job at social security in the supplemental security income section. He and I joked about the job and having to deal with all the fakers trying to get benefits. Before he worked there him and I both would have said 70-80% of the people on disability are faking it. After he had worked there a few years he told me we were horribly wrong. He thinks it’s maybe 10-20% that are trying to fake the system. He says they only approve about 30% of initial claims, but that 80-90% of the people applying truly deserve it.
I served with this guy and would trust him in a foxhole. I trust his judgment on this. Though there is always the possibility that it is just his office that sees so many truly disabled people and other offices see 80-90% fakers. But I doubt it.
