Northam and the GOPe
American Thinker ^ | Peter Skurkiss

Posted on 02/04/2019 5:48:36 AM PST by RoosterRedux

In 2017 Northam decisively defeated Ed Gillespie for governor 54 to 45. (As an aside, Bill Kristol backed Northam.) In that race, the Democrats played the race card for all it was worth, while Gillespie was as hapless as a deer in the headlights.

...

Not only was Gillespie inept in his race with Northam, but the question arises how could his campaign's research team not have unearthed that racist photo of Northam? A school yearbook is as good as a public record. As incompetent as they may be, it is hard to believe that the Gillespie team did not know about that photo. In my opinion, the logical conclusion is that they had it but were afraid to use it.

...

And why did Gillespie behave in such a way? In my opinion, because for him to fight, it would mean getting his hands dirty...

...

Here, Gillespie is following the path blazed by John McCain, Mitt Romney and other Republicans in lesser races. Recall that McCain not only refused to make an issue of Obama's 20-year affiliation with the notorious racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright but he shouted down in temper-tantrum manner anyone who broached the subject. As for Romney, he was content to lose his race against Obama in what he considered a gentlemanly fashion.

This is why Donald Trump sticks in the Republican establishment's craw. Trump is a fighter. Trump is a winner.

I think you’ll need to be more specific.

That they didn’t use the photograph does not constitute evidence that they HAD the photograph and chose not to use it. The premise is absurd. “They should have found the photograph, therefore they DID find the photograph.” No.

Thx. Gotcha.

BTW, the scuttlebutt is that this photo had been out there for years, but was being suppressed by the Dems while at the same time resting uncomfortably in the dusty files of the GOP.

It was leaked by conservative classmates of Northam’s from Med school who were angry about the pro baby-killing comments

As an aside, I don't know any of the details of how the photos made their way to the media and all I know about what has been said about the Democrats also having copies of said photos is what I have read in the press.

In other words, everything I know may be false.

Standard oppo research does require a look into all public writings, yearbooks, news articles. This should have been uncovered in a State election.

As far as 0bama was concerned, there were definitely Deep State forces preventing oppo research into his college records, trips to Pakistan in his 20s, ties with Bill Ayers and communists.
