Before Nicholas Cruz killed 17 people at Floridas Parkland High School last year he posted images of guns, bullets and a dead frog on Instagram. And before former Marine Ian David Long gunned down 12 last year at a California bar he posted on Facebook, I hope people call me insane.
This is something my community is demanding action on, said Rep. Daniel Didech (D-Buffalo Grove).
Thats why Didech is proposing gun buyers reveal their public social media accounts to Illinois police before theyre approved for a firearm license.
A lot of people who are having mental health issues will often post on their social media pages that theyre about to hurt themselves or others, Didech said. We need to give those people the help they need.
Pro-gun groups are outraged.
When people look at this everyone who has a Facebook account or email account or Twitter account will be incensed or should be, said Richard Pearson with the Illinois State Rifle Association.
But the ACLU is opposed as well.

Forget it Jake....
What next? A copy of your ‘What I did on summer vacation’ essay from 5th grade?
This is something my community is demanding action on..”
F your community and you too Rep. Deaddick.
I got something to reveal...
And a real psycho would never scrub his online presence to include butterflies, moonbeams, and flowers in order to get a permit.
If he puts in lots of innocuous text (large C&P tracts from Gutenberg.org for example) and lots of 5 min puppy and kitten video clips it will take an officer the better part of a day to get through it all.
tl/dr here’s your permit!
Not only that. Sometimes bad guys don’t buy their guns at Scheels or Cabelas or BassPro or their local gun store and post it on FB or instagram or twitter. Who knew? Do these assclowns even consider the growth in population and the number of firearms in the hands of everyday (murderous) law abiding citizens? I’d say the actual number based on those things is down.
It’s obvious that:
they want to take guns from non-violent honest people, and leave them in the hands of violent criminals.
No doubt about it.
That’s their “common sense “ approach.
As long as FR isn’t “social media”, I don’t have some.....
What if you don’t have social media?
yet another assault on our second amendment rights- a backdoor to denying people the right based solely on their free speech rights and how someone subjectively interprets those comments? Who’s going to determine what is alarming, red flag worthy in their feeble minds, and what isn’t?
I assume that our passwords remain a secret. If so, we all just say we post on FR as “Lazamataz.”
Once they get a look at you online, they’ll try to find an excuse under ERPO or Red Flag laws to raid, um I mean visit, your house.
Hmmm doesn’t like Bruce Springsteen or Barbra, didn’t vote for Hillary, thinks the Green New Deal is silly, shoots skeet and trap, is looking for a carry permit!. Probably a danger to himself or others fer sher, better get The Team rolling!
There is only one sure cure for rabid animals...
“What if you dont have social media?”
Then you are a weird, antisocial misfit.
PERMIT DENIED.
When Chicago black murders are executed rather than imprisoned, gun violence will cease
As other folks said if FR is social media, I have some. Otherwise, no.
FU, Daniel Didech
