The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC) called on Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) to resign Friday after a second woman came forward to accuse him of sexual assault.
The group of state legislators had initially refrained from calling for the lieutenant governor to step aside this week, but issued the statement Friday night amid mounting calls for him to resign after a woman accused him of rape.
“In light of the most recent sexual assault allegations against Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus believes it is best for Lt. Governor Fairfax to step down from his position," the caucus said in a statement.
"We remain steadfast in our conviction that every allegation of sexual assault or misconduct be treated with the utmost seriousness,” it added. “While we believe that anyone accused of such a grievous and harmful act must receive the due process prescribed by the Constitution, we can’t see it in the best interest of the Commonwealth of Virginia for the Lieutenant Governor to remain in his role.”

IMO, none of the three will step down since there is a Republican in the wings for the governors seat.

The demokraps want him gone, not because the accusations could be true, but because the longer this goes on, the worse it gets for the left. Again, demokraps show that they do not believe in due process. If an accusation is enough to chase ANYONE out of office, lose a job etc, then due process is lost. Fairfax has denied the allegations and hence he is entitled to due process.
Whether he stays of course is a political decision that he ultimately makes, but his political career is destroyed. Until then, he is entitled to due process, as are his accusers to be heard.
If Fairfax resigns then the Governor could appoint a temporary replacement (until November). Then if the governor resigns his replacement ( the guy he just appointed) would also be a democrat who would stay in office until 2021 and could run for re-election.
The democrats definitely will have Fairfax resign first if they think Northampton can’t survive his scandal.

My understanding is he steps down and is replaced by another Dem (with no skeletons in his closet), and then the governor resigns - so the replacement lieutenant governor becomes the governor. It is actually an opportunity for the Dems to put in a radical who would have never been voted into office.
They just need this to work out before the 2020 election, because it antagonizes two groups of “victims” they need in their base: Blacks and women. They have to resolve it because this issue can be used in the national campaign, especially in states where those two groups helped deliver “Dem states” (PA, MI, WI) to Trump.

Gotta give the guys a break when there is heavy petting, and often lots of alcohol, and later the girl gets angry. The girls must take blame for some of this when they are leading the guy on. Share their bed, share their blame.

There was a special election to fill the lt. governorship in 1971; it may not still apply in such situations.
You are right on target. Also, they will lose VA in 2020.
I always get a big laugh out of the demokraps accusing President Trump of racism. Here is a guy who was in the public eye for decades and when he became President, he is suddenly discovered to be a racist. Why would anyone support a party so detached from reality?
In today’s VA though, nearly any radical has an excellent chance of victory in the Old Dominion.
My point was that they can fill the Lt. Governor position with Al Sharpton for the time being; he just wouldn’t be on the ticket at all in the next election, but can cause plenty of damage until then.
This grievance-group politics will be our end. Good God how I hate rats.

resigning but the two whitie’s stay.
This will be delicious to watch.
Here’s their plan. First get rid of the Lt Governor. Then appoint and confirm his DEMOCRAT replacement. Once replacement is in office, put pressure on Governor to resign and be replaced by new Democrat Lt Governor. This way they ensure Governor is A DEMOCRAT.
