Yes, it is true, as well as many other aspects of NYC life. The Metropolitan Opera (present and ex-music directors: Yannick Nezet-Seguin and James Levine), the New York Philharmonic (General Music Director: Debra Borda), chief music critic at the New York Times (Anthony Tommasini) plus many of his subordinates, many prominent New York composers, past and present (Aaron Copland, Ned Rorem, Charles Wuorinen), labor leaders (Randi Weingarten), the general editorial positions of the New York Times...
So what’s the big deal about what he said? It’s no surprise that the LGBTQ community should have such clout on the City Council, as well as filling the position of City Council President (the current occupant, Cory Johnson, is also the acting Public Advocate).

Why did he say the chamber is controlled by homosexuals?
If he had said that the City Council was controlled by assorted Marxists they wouldn’t have attacked him. That is one truth they know about.
In the old days it was Communist Party USA member Miriam Friedlander and Democratic Socialist/friend of the CP, Ruth Messinger.
Now the council has a lot of different Marxist ideology sympathizers including one Maoist.

I know. It’s like a quip that Jim Carey made many years ago. Something to the point that he is not power hungry, and he’ll be sure that anyone who says so never works in Hollywood again.
Because if “gays” are depicted as in control, that diminishes their “oppressed victim” narrative.

Remember the “strict scrutiny” legal test for an oppressed group used extensively in court cases to redefine marriage? On of the tests was that the group had to be “politically powerless.” LOL!! What a laugh.
