Abuse of Force: Body camera video shows man tased 11 times by Glendale officers
ABC Channel 15 - Arizona ^ | Feb. 08, 2019 | Dave Biscobing

On July 27, 2017, Johnny Wheatcroft was a passenger in a silver Ford Taurus when a pair of Glendale police officers pulled in front them in a Motel 6 parking lot.

The stop was for an alleged turn signal violation.

Minutes later, Wheatcroft was handcuffed lying face down on the hot asphalt on a 108-degree day. He'd already been tased 10 times, with one officer kneeling on his back as another, Officer Matt Schneider, kicked him in the groin and pulled down his athletic shorts to tase him a final time in his testicles, according to a federal lawsuit and body camera footage obtained by ABC15.

The scene was witnessed by his 11- and 6-year-old sons.

Multiple independent law enforcement experts, who agreed to review the incident, said the officers’ conduct was unlawful, potentially criminal, and one of the most cruel and troubling cases of police misconduct they’ve ever seen.

The relationship you describe is slave overseer-to-slave. The exact same logic applies - the overseer has power, the slave has none, therefore the slave should be obedient.

You shouldn’t be OK with that. That’s not what America is about.

White adult wearing a flat brimmed rapper cap turned backwards and calling people “Bro”.

If the car's occupants had been black this would have been national news with accompanying Twitter outrage. But it's just a bunch of white people.

There is obviously a large difference of opinion here about what is reasonable force. I would like to observe that one side says "listen to a cop and you won't get beaten or tasted" the opposite side says " You dont beat people for not giving their name.". I think the " dont beat people for not giving their name " have some type of authority issues and or may be involved in illegal activities and quite possibly the next to be tazed by the cops instead of going home. Maybe Ive just never been arrested, maybe I am polite, and if the cop wants me to do jumping jacks on the side of the road while telling them who I am, Ill do it. And hope the cop that did this too me meets one of you bad asses later on down the road and it doesnt turn out so good for the cop. But those type of cops don't reflect what most LEO's act like.

I am mostly surprised that so many people have never heard or learned " F with the bull, ya get the horn". works with leo's too!

and it has never been as simple as getting beaten for not giving your name, the person being detained is 99/100 times been a complete jerk whole the LEO is trying to do his job. and yes his job is to stop crime and if asking Your name helps, give him or her your name..

Good to know. I’m glad we don’t have to depend on you to defend our freedoms. I swore an oath to defend our Constitution against ALL enemies foreign and domestic, including wannabe Gestapo masquerading as police officers; “How dare you be riding with a woman who failed to signal a turn! Where are your papers?”

Note my tag line. If I or a fellow sniper had done IN COMBAT what Lon Horiuchi, an FBI sniper, did to Randy Weaver’s wife in Idaho - who had done nothing illegal whatsoever, we would have been court-martialed and sent to Ft. Leavenworth for the remainder of our lives. Horiuchi gets to retire from the FBI with a very nice retirement check and so does Larry Potts, SSA of the HRT, who suspended the Rules of Engagement, which allowed Horiuchi to take an ill-advised shot that led to the death of an innocent civilian.

There’s more than one soldier, sailor, airman or marine who’s been prosecuted and gone to prison for far less than what cops in the US get away with.

“Did you see all of the video? If someone is stopped by the police they need to do what the cop tells him/her to do. ”

He was NOT the person “stopped by the police.”

So you have no argument, by your own words.

He was the passenger. Why did the police officer even address him at all?

And no cop ever lied about a turn signal as an excuse to pull a car over.

So do you have to be a sadist before you become a policeman or do they teach you that at the academy?

Yes, this is true abuse of power... a 3 day suspension for 1 officer was all that was handed down for this?

Insanity! Glendale PD is clearly corrupt.

Exactly... everything about this is bad.

Fact the PD only found him being tazed after he was handcuffed as its only policy violation tells you all you need to know about the corruption in the Glenadale PD.

The entire escalation was 100% on the police, and a complete abuse of power.

This guy’s going to get a big big payout, and frankly wouldn’t be surprised if the Glendale PD found itself under state or federal investigation after this is all said and done.

They had them out in 100+ weather for hours. The mother of the two kids should go to court and see about getting her conviction overturned. Those poor children.

He was the passenger, was not told he committed a crime, and doesn’t have to give his name.

The video does not show him reaching under the seat at any time.

There were no drugs in the car, according to the court docket.

You know I’ve been thinking about the 30 hour suspension.

Three day suspension? Three 10 hour shifts?

It would be interesting to see his prior disciplinary actions, if any.
