My objection to females in Boy Scouts is not anti-women...I just value the concept of an all male environment at an age where a lot of boys are still mentally rounding into shape.
Females can interrupt a young man's environment and thought processes, and that isn't meant as a perjorative towards women...it is just recognition of a fact.
I suppose other guys were like me, but I went through the better part of ten years where I couldn't think of much else but females, especially when they were around.
My body was simply screaming at me.
I have often said I wouldn't mind going back to 17 years old and having that healthy body again, but if they wouldn't let me take my mind and learned experiences along, you couldn't pay me money to go back.
It was like having loud stereo speakers blaring in my brain that only I could hear, and it was saying "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!"
Me listening in history class:
TEACHER: In The Panic of 1873, a major economic reversal began in Europe and reached the United States in the fall of 1873. The signal event on this side of the Atlantic was the failure of Jay Cooke and Company, the country's preeminent investment banking concern...
ME: (vacant eyes, mouth hanging open) "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!"
TEACHER: Mr. Rlmorel, what else was going on in 1873? Mr. Rlmorel? Mr. Rlmorel?
ME: "GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS! Huh? What? Er...ah...GIRLS! GIRLS GIRLS!
TEACHER: Mr. Rlmorel, see me after class please. You obviously cannot learn within class, we can discuss membership in our special after school study group to help you along.
I hear you. And on the flip side, the girls have a similar problem. Some of them are so boy crazy that they are nearly as distracted as you describe being. All the primping and the hair flipping and the coquettish behavior are the milder symptoms. Don’t even get me started on the slutty way girls are dressing on school campuses. They are so clearly advertising and no male in range, regardless of his age, can help but notice. Yes, boys and girls could both do with a little less sexual distraction when they are trying to learn important life lessons. Adding girls to boy scouts will have its price.
