Drug costs here in the US are due to the cost of developing these drugs. If you make the drugs cheaper by government decree, then the incentive to develop new drugs goes out the window. Say goodbye to new drugs.

The question is why are the Drugs cheaper overseas? It costs the same to develop the Drugs no matter where they are sold.

Use the Drugs, pay the Piper.

Yep, drugs developed & FDA approved here with costs in the millions per drug...then after a few years of recouping development cost and making a profit, drug companies begin selling to socialized countries medical plans at just above production cost (govt. mandated prices...Canada & Europe and S. America). Development cost is recouped in the U.S. and “just over production cost” profit is earned in socialized countries. All the “generics” I have see myself lately are already made “offshore”...India mainly...don’t see how importing more drugs helps anything and adds the danger of 3rd world manufacturing processes.

“Say goodbye to new drugs.”

Terrible news if you are Huey Lewis.

Horse manure. A common antibiotic I buy for my animals has gone from $5 for 14 ml in 2007 to $40 today.

Bullsquirt. Development costs? Fair enough...Then why don’t those development costs affect the foreign prices? And it isn’t just in Mexico and Cameroon. In socialist Canada for example, prices are FAR less.
If big pharma wants to be socialist overseas, they don’t get to be Milton Friedman here without experiencing some backlash.

America is tired of being lectured by free traitors to subsidize cheap drugs for the world. This isn’t 1950 when the rest of the planet was a smoking ruin still.

Exactly. It is analogous to importing cheap labor which stifles the development of technology to improve productivity to reduce labor costs.

...which are then sold to other countries at huge discounts, screwing Americans, who pay ridiculous prices.

Not just that, Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare, DoD Pharmacies are all PRE NEGOTIATED PRICES. That are often MORE than the private Insurance industry. Some cheaper to just buy out right.

I had to have SIBO antibiotics 3 times last year, TRICARE BALKED at the script being sent to a Private pharmacy, Retail it’s $1,500 for 14 days. Not that it is the price Tricare pays when gotten through the Military base. Was very surprised our Small base even carried it, as it’s not a common antibiotic.

If it’s not on the Formulary you pay full price.
