Don't get Joe Scarborough wrong: he detests Donald Trump as much as ever, and will surely do whatever he can to help defeat him in 2020. But in a triumph of realism over desire, on today's Morning Joe, Scarborough warned Democrats that beating Trump won't be easy.
As evidence of the daunting task facing Dems hoping to take Trump down, Scarborough urged Dems to listen to the "strong" closing segment of President Trump's speech in El Paso last night.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: There was a closing argument, and whoever wrote it, wrote a strong closing argument. And any Democrat that thinks they're going to cakewalk to beating Donald Trump in 2020, like they thought in 2016, and like everybody in the press thought in 2016, you need to watch the last four or five minutes of his speech and understand: Democrats have an uphill battle here. It's not going to be easy.

I like Buck Sexton’s radio show.
It does not mean he writes his own speech. Not taking anything away from him but he is a busy man being the “leader of the free world”.
I am sure he has a lot of input into his speeches but the idea he sits up late at night writing speeches just does not seem practical for a busy man.
It’s hard to beat an incumbent president. Especially if that president has fair to middling poll numbers, and has accomplished policy goals of note during his first term.
Any Dem who’s serious about being president had best hold their powder and give 2020 a pass. Better to run for the office with a 0-0 record.
So are half the Republicans in D. C.
I think most Americans born before 1970 will recognize that gesture as simply meaning, 'all of you'.
Every culture has its non-verbal, idiomatic gestures. Like colloquial phrases, they can fall out of fashion or lose their meaning to younger generations. Remember the brouhaha over the 'ok' hand signal a couple of weeks ago?
I was shocked at how many people were confused by that.

Oh, puhleeeeeze. Don't bring that cult crap in here.
No such word.
Yeah, like, me too, bruh. Me too.

What are you referring to?
As if you didn't know.
Why are you being nasty? So what if people follow Q, it may or may not be real but he does seem to play it up.
So funny! (So true.). What a LOSER.
Some time back, JimRob asked everyone to confine all Q related conversations to the nightly Q thread. He had to do that, because firefights and flame wars over Q were breaking out all over the forum.
It was a good call. The forum has quieted down considerably since he made that announcement.
Your post was a perfect example.
Absolutely, which is why Freepers need to abide by JimRob's wishes.
True, but when Obama gave a speech the press didn't feel the necessity to inform us of that fact ... almost every time.
Yes. Stephen Miller, for sure. But that doesn’t mean no one else had input or that the President didn’t do the details.
Hardly. Peter Robinson, Ken Khachigian, and Peggy Noonan wrote some of Reagan’s speeches. That is not to say that Reagan did not do a lot of his own writing, but there are too many varied circumstances and information to know for a president to work solo on his speeches.
Trump is out doing Ronald Reagan?
Who is Ronald Reagan?
Oh, did you mean Reegan or Raygan?
