Well, my father was 6'5" and could whip his weight in alligators... always the guy for the tough jobs. First to get the K9. He once threw a guy through a window for tearing up a Christmas tree and beating his wife and kids (nobody considered it out of line at the time). Then again, he once took out his service revolver and slid it down the aisle of a store because a hysterical, drunk woman was trying to take it (he ain't shooting a drunk woman for that).

He used to tell me it was about helping people; later he said it became 'US' versus 'them' - all starting when they shifted from 'call boxes' to squad cars.

Even with his K9, he wore his regular uniform. Later when he saw how the K9 and swat teams dressed he was appalled. I think his words were, "Jesus, what in the hell are they dressed for?"

K9 Head was on the SWAT team. He wore the same uniform the rest of the officers did.

HIS GIRLFRIEND SAID SHE HEARD DISTINCTLY THAT THEY SAID THEY WERE COPS.

Anyone can shout "POLICE."

It’s the David Koresh protocol. Why didn’t the LEOs simply wait for Fricke to leave the house and arrest him then? If they had a warrant they had no need to break in to the house. Plenty of stupid to go around on this one.

hmmm..one of the many ‘reasons” behind a “no-knock” raid is to undermine the 2nd amendment as these tragedies accumulate

Both my father and my uncle were LEO during the same era. They saw what it was coming to be and had the morals to get out because they didn’t want to be associated with it anymore.

No-knocks are designed to assure that there is no municipal money used for a trial.

Yep. My brother quit DC MPD for the same reason.

I have a kitchen scale. I have baggies. Once upon a time, I had a postal scale, as well. I actually have big boxes of baggies since I prefer to buy in bulk.

None of my items have ever been used in dealing drugs. I’d be willing to say that there are millions like me who also don’t deal drugs.

Maybe his girlfriend did hear “POLICE!” Maybe he’s hard of hearing or was too frightened to make sense out of what he was hearing,

Plus, as another poster said, anyone can yell that during a home invasion.

I’m not supporting killing a police officer but I think the guy has a good case for self-defense. I think the “no-knock” raid is a formual for getting someone killed and needs to be stopped except in maybe the direst circumstances

“HIS GIRLFRIEND SAID SHE HEARD DISTINCTLY THAT THEY SAID THEY WERE COPS.”

If that were the actual case, then the girl friend never should have fired at the door killing the cop. She should definitely be tried, convicted and jailed for life!

Oh wait a minute, she wasn’t the armed one, nor did she do any of the shooting.

It is possible in a stressful panicky moment for two people to hear totally different things. It is also possible after the fact for someone to be told what was said and then later believe that’s what they heard.

What the girl friend heard has no bearing. None, zero. The distance the bedroom was from the door, the loudness of the battering ram, the loudness of the cop yelling “police!” and the heat of the moment all factor in.

The man did not have a history of being a violent criminal and thus had no reasonable expectation for his door to be kicked in. He was exercising his right to defend his home.

Selling dope is a crime, but the type and quantity did not classify him as a major Colombian drug smuggler. He could have been arrested without violence any time he left his home, at which point a search warrant could have been peacefully executed.

Excessive force get’s people killed. Think Waco and Ruby Ridge. This one’s on the cops. I hope the guy beats the murder wrap and is appropriately punished for the dope wrap.

As others have stated SWAT and no knock raids are mostly about “playing army”,and nneed to be extremely rare.

"Like I said, girlfriend heard it was police WAY before he started shooting...

I'm partially deaf. When I'm in bed I don't wear my hearing aids. What the girlfriend says is irrelevant, as there is no way for her to know what the boyfriend heard or didn't hear.

I agree with a previous poster...."no knock" raids should either be eliminated or drastically curtailed.

Man... I just can’t imagine what it would be like in the DC MPD... Bet there were outright crimes being committed just like in NY city. I worked for a guy who was a NY city detective for a long time, the stories are just absolutely incredible.

Exactly. This death was needless. Someone wanted to score political points by going after “drugs”. No doubt “for the children.”.

“Sounds as though Fricke did not clearly identify his target prior to opening fire. ...”

Yes, he DID. It was someone yelling incoherently, meaning to cause him lethal harm evidenced by breaking down his door. He was “scared for his life”. “Self defense” all day long.

Warrant? I didn’t see no stinkin warrant.

As an aside, was this the same team that arrested Roger Stone? /s

A bad guy breaking down your door has sufficiently identified himself for you.

No kidding. Where I live, one, charges wouldn't have been brought. For pot?? The cops here have plenty on their hands with meth and opiods.

If anything the chief would be forced out.

These Hitler bastards have to be identified and removed, from Herr Mueller and his dawn squad right down to this big bad hero dead on the ground.
