Jussie Smollett has given his first interview about the shocking racist and homophobic attack he was subjected to as he walked home from a Subway in Chicago last month at 2am.
The Empire actor spoke to ABC's Robin Roberts for an interview that will air on Good Morning America on Thursday morning.
In a brief promo for the interview, he is seen tearing up after Roberts asked him if he feared for his life at any point during the attack.
It is the first time the 36-year-old himself will answer questions on camera about the incident which shocked the nation and has brought an avalanche of both sympathy and scrutiny Smollett's way.
In the initial aftermath of the attack, Smollett received an outpouring of support from celebrities and fans alike who all condemned the discrimination he was subjected to.
Chicago Police Department launched a frantic hunt for his attackers who he said shouted 'This is MAGA country!' after punching his ribs, pouring bleach on him and tying a noose around his necks.
In the weeks that followed, details of the incident have been picked over forensically.
Despite finding video of Smollett before and after the attack, police have not been able to uncover any surveillance footage of the actual incident and they have not been able to identify the suspects.
They released an initial image of two men walking near Smollett on the night of the incident at around the same time but that led to nothing.

This just amazes me. Not so long ago, gay people wanted to not have the government prying into their private life. Now, they use that same government to promote their life “agenda”. They have opened Pandora’s box. Our private vs public life are no longer separate. This is beyond dangerous. Leftists always destroy our freedoms.

Never forget that most of the professional on-air media people are actors. Nice looking with convincing presentations, but playing back their boss’s thoughts.
Jussie (what a name) just keeps digging. Given how this loser has reveled in all the publicity, he needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for filing a false police report.
The least believable part of the story.......two White racists in MAGA hats walking around his neighborhood at 2 in the (well below feeezing) Chicago morning........and yelling ‘this is MAGA country’??? I hope he is held accountable for the fakery in his story. Unless the reporting of fake assaults is considered a crime and prosecuted, the fake stories/hoaxes will continue.

Anyone with two brain cells could reason that two people would not be walking down the street with MAGA hats on in that neighborhood at 2:00 in freezing weather. And a noose made from clothesline? Give me a break. This guy better be arrested for a false report. I’m sure this low IQ person thought that this would be news for a while and blow over. I’m sure he never thought this through that in the end it could bite him.
