I disagree. In many dioceses (Seattle-Hunthausen, Milwaukee-Weakland) unchaste homosexual clerics were the very ones who initiated and enthusiastically pushed this innovation of "altar girls".
Maybe because of their hostility toward tradition in general? Or part of this thing about genderfluid sex roles?
