The Los Angeles City Council voted 14-0 Tuesday to approve an ordinance requiring city contractors disclose any ties to the National Rifle Association.

It’s the first such legislation for any municipality, according to Councilman Mitch O’Farrell’s office.

He first introduced the ordinance in September 2018. It will force companies aiming to do business with the city to publicly reveal any financial links to NRA and its subsidiaries.

The law has several exemptions, including pension fund contracts.

In a news conference ahead of Tuesday’s vote, O’Farrell said the NRA previously sent a letter to the City Council claiming that the law would violate the First Amendment.

I’m sure they’ll pass similar laws to require city contractors to disclose ties to planned parenthood, the communist party, to BLM, to anti-Israel activities, to pro-illegal immigrant entities, and to sanctuary city organizations. Yep, real soon now.

The sooner California becomes insolvent and technically bankrupt, the better.

A major financial crisis for them is really the only way they might change.

Hard to see how this passes legal muster. I guess in CA its whatever “feels right”. The NRA should sue.

Does the NRA make their membership list public?

Or perhaps, their employees. But that would be hateful and NOT WHO WE ARE.

The Big One will happen soon enough and we’ll slide right off into the Pacific. Arizona and Nevada will then be coastal property.

Not just LA but California is controlled by the communists who are Democrats. This State will explode in a fairy land of illegals who will bring the State to look like the way Valenzuela went.

A political litmus test for city contractors is patently un-Constitutional.

All the civil rights legislation and court decisions have underscored this.

At best only an organization which actively seeks to deny civil rights can be excluded. As the NRA clearly seeks to uphold Second Amendment Civil Rights, the Ordinance will not stand and is an embarrassment to the Constitution.

that would be awesome- what’s good for the goose is good for the gander- start denying contractors jobs if they ever donated to PP, Soros, The democrat party etc- if it’s not discrimination for cities to deny work to NRA supporters, then it’s not discriminatory to deny service to liberal cause supporters

She was getting high while she was prosecuting people for getting high.

Cannot be constitutional.

There used to be a list of subversive organizations that you had to disavow when applying for federal employment. Communist Party USA, WEB Debois, etc. were on it. I don't think they use the list any more.
