It's true, Trump really did start building more wall in Texas

When President Trump said Monday at a campaign rally in El Paso that, “We’ve actually started a big, big portion of the wall today at a very important location, and it’s going to go up pretty quickly over the next nine months," I assumed it was nonsense he was spreading in hopes that his supporters might not mob him on stage for so far failing to keep the central promise of his campaign.

He similarly said Tuesday at the White House, "We just started a big, big section [of wall] on the Rio Grande."

I'm happy to say I was wrong. Trump was telling the truth. I checked in with agents at the Rio Grande Valley border sector to see if they knew what new "wall" Trump was talking about. They sent me information on construction for new border barrier announced last year. The project funds six miles-worth of concrete and steel barrier of the sort that agents told me in January is immensely successful in deterring illegal border crossings.

The wall will be supplemented by "detection technology, lighting, video surveillance, and an all-weather patrol road parallel" to the barrier, according to a release sent out by the CBP in November.

Trump’s “big, big section of wall” is 55 miles. The Texas border with Mexico is 1254 miles. So 4% is big, big.

It’s 55 miles of wall. It’s a start. But only a start.

Even the 777 is now ‘too big’ to be competitive. The American airlines are going all B787 or A350 for network diversity. With a small twins you can always add more routes or more flights instead of the burden of always having to fill big planes.

But how much of that is the Rio Grande, portions of which are too wide to reasonably cross. And how much land in Texas already has completed portions of a wall?? I wish we had more specifics.

I was telling DH that the White House Press Office should put in a “Wall Cam”, and live stream it so people can log in and watch. Install one for every segment under coonstruction.

Obama’s White House live streamed the dog. Why not something important?

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

This elephant carcass has been sitting around rotting since one of President Reagan's few major mistakes. It's time to eat it - one bite at a time but with as many teams as necessary taking bites at the same time.

President Trump should use whatever presidential powers are needed to build the entire 1900 miles of wall this fiscal year. Put 20 teams to work, 50 teams, 100 teams, Sea Bees, Army Corps of Engineers, contractors, squads of (nonviolent) prison volunteers who are paid more than prison jobs normally pay, rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, manure-kickers, and Methodists. Take the symbolic funding that Nancy grudgingly gave real Americans, repurpose other funds, declare a national emergency, whatever it takes to build the entire wall by the end of September. Get the Great Wall of MAGA done now.
