Sadly, you are correct. I fear the only cure is to give states enough autonomy that they can go full socialist retard on us, go bankrupt and become an object lesson in the consequences with a penalty written into law that once they do, said state becomes a territory, loses their representation in congress save for one voting delegate and can only apply for re-admission to the union after a 10 year waiting period and proof of fiscal responsibility.
Give them what they want, but don't let them spread the consequences to all 50 states.
