Yeah He signed it. Shutting down the gov’t is a waste...it costs money and hurts the wrong people. Hoping Eminent Domain trumps the bills allowance for towns/cities to vote NO for wall on their border.

Something else I discovered, regarding whether local mayors have the power to restrict the construction of a border wall in their immediate jurisdictions:

The actual language uses the term “shall consult with.” IOW, The federal authority must notify a mayor of their intentions, and give hearing to their objections or suggestions. “Consult” means just that and nothing more. The federal authorities have the FINAL say. To wit: a mayor cannot prevent the construction of a NATIONAL border wall in their jurisdiction.

Where in hell posters here on FR got the idea that mayors can override federal jurisdiction is beyond me. Such language would be ludicrous on its face and contradict the Constitution. But we’ve got utter morons infecting this site, who are nothing less than attention whores.

FR is now so overrun with uninformed twits, who regularly jump to conclusions without facts, that we should ask Jim Robinson to rename the site: “Failed Reasoning,” “Frequently Ridiculous,” “Facts Removed,” or “Factually Resistant.”

I’m at the point where I don’t have a desire to come here any longer, because there are so many individuals who are either uninformed, misinformed, or outright trolls posting absolute bullsh*t, but who think themselves intellectual giants.

What used to be a reliable source for obtaining factual information, and well-reasoned political discourse, has turned into a joke, having too many posters whose rants are not much better than what I would find on DU. In fact, their are some here who, IMO, need psychological intervention.

You are right. I thought that too and then managed to read the law. It only says consult.

You are absolutely wrong regarding the authority granted to “incorporated towns, villages and cities” (e.g.: mayors). The language states no such thing. Did you actually READ the bill? The language specifically states that the federal authorities “SHALL CONSULT WITH ...” Consult, as in advise, or give hearing to. The language grants no overriding privilege to local authorities, with regard to what is clearly the CONSTITUTIONAL jurisdiction of the federal government.

You people really need to quit this incessant disinformation campaign. Either read the bill and post informed accurate statements, worthy of FR, or go troll DU. I’m sick of the outright lies and half truths being passed off as facts.

You are correct. The language in the Act include words that monies cannot be expended while such consultations are ongoing, but I didn’t find anything that gave the communities to prevent the government from ending the consulting. I don’t think that this is the Korean War Armistice.

Jim Robinson threw me off Free Republic for criticizing what has happened on this forum. Most of my complaints are a reflection of the larger society. I never apologized or changed my views and comments, but I did go away for a couple of years (continued lurking). Then I sent in a $3 donation. My privileges were restored within an hour, I renewed by monthly donation and all is good. I generally ignore the idiots.

That is what I want to know. The emergency makes sense, but signing that spending bill does not, especially not at the same time.

The national emergency “trumps” the spending bill doesn’t it?

More clarification for those who are still having a conniption fit, and for those who still have their faculties of reason intact. Excellent discussion here:

BTW, Ann Coulter is a gas-lighting obnoxious opportunistic twit.

And those quoting Breitbart had best understand that Andrew is dead, and the crap being spewed is straight from Bannon - another gas-lighting, back-stabbing cockroach.

Moreover, Laura Ingram and Horowitz are also part of Bannon’s crank machine, spewing disinformation. Not one of them knows WTF they are talking about.

Read it and weep. Trump’s “liaison” with Congress on this legislative rape was the Democrat globalist (DG-Goldman) Gary Cohn’s operative, as team Trump got totally snowed:

Thank you for putting everything in perspective. It is sad that so many on this conservative site are quick to slam President Trump, disregard all of his accomplishments, and extinguish all hope.
President Trump is fighting in the belly of the Beast and on the outside people like Ann Coulter are working hard to divide us.
