Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy told reporters on Wednesday that earlier that day authorities got a report of an active-shootersituation at David A. Guy Dentistry in Kingsport.
Cassidy said it took officers six minutes to respond. At the scene, they found that an employee had died, allegedly gunned down by her husband.
Cassidy, who described the situation as “workplace violence” of the “domestic type,” said the situation could have been worse, had it not been for a citizen with a concealed weapon.

Kingsport is just a few miles up the road from where I have just moved to in Tennessee. I so KNEW that we chose the right place to retire!
Had this happened in Miami Dade, the press and the cops would be moaning over how the citizen should not have gotten involved and this was a tragic end that might have been averted had the citizen waited for police to arrive... yada yada yada.
Cops up here are more direct and less PC. Words to the effect of: He saw the threat and responded appropriately. He's a hero.

I’ve started carrying in places that I didn’t used to. For example, hair salons, the place where I get my nails done, medical appointments. What better place than a primarily female location for an armed robbery or worse?
