Trump plans to use $8 billion to fund border wall, source says

President Trump will take dramatic actions to fund his long-promised border wall and declare a national emergency, which will enable his administration to move $8 billion from various federal agencies to fund the project, a senior administration official told Fox News late Thursday.

The news comes as Trump is expected to sign a House border security package that provides $1.4 billion for the project, which is far below the $5.7 billion Trump insisted he needed and would finance just a quarter of the 200-plus miles he wanted.

Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, said earlier today that Trump will sign the spending bill and declare a national emergency at the same time tomorrow morning.

The White House said he’d sign the legislation but act unilaterally to get more, prompting condemnations from Democrats and threats of lawsuits from states and others who might lose federal money or said Trump was abusing his authority.

Its easy to be a critic. Trump is the warrior in the arena, fighting overwhelming forces mostly by himself.
Are we not entertained?

Actually, no. Mostly I'm ticked off, and want every Republican and Democrat voted out of office in the Primaries and replaced by a non-politician, non-attorney, who isn't interested in staying in DC for decades. This isn't for entertainment, this is for the survival of our nation and culture... and if we go down, the entire planet becomes a much darker place for billions of people, for many decades.

That bill gives away the Country. The wall will be a farce given the contents of that Bill.

I am wondering if his emergency authority allows him to sign the bill and then immediately suspend the “poison pills” under the emergency authority he has. If he can he will e poking a stick in the eye of the Dems and Rinos.

It's a reference to the movie Gladiator where Maximus explains the lay of the land...

No doubt that all of those folks are from the list that JR banned from FR for several months when Cruz withdrew and they went ballistic on each and every thread.

Put your efforts into repealing the 17th Amendment. It will kill the Uniparty

I trust he does use it and builds the entirety of the wall. It might also be time to repeal the 22nd amendment.

If every rep and senator in the U.S. Congress were to be replaced by politicos from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras, the assembled bunch would not have crafted and voted in favor of a bill in any substantial way different from the one Trump was handed to sign.

Mexican cartel money. Payoffs and threats of violence. Or disclosure. The "puppetmaster" behind the curtain, directing all of this seditious and treasonous pro-illegal alien/open borders push by a national assembly. Flying in the face of an electorate's plebiscite to protect its own country's border and sovereignty and right to self-determination.

Which begs the question of infiltration and undue influence into domestic U.S. political affairs by rogue foreign countries, criminals, and other political elements. What has Mueller found that has kept him so quiet and has kept him out of the picture literally (no recent photos) for several months.

U.S. foreign policy for decades has had as its cornerstone the covert destabilization of foreign governments through the agency of the FBI and the CIA.

Not farfetched that the time would come when someone large enough and wealthy enough would succeed in doing the same to us.

A reading of the accompanying comments at the link you provided. If true, it's even worse than we thought. The Republicans in the Senate adding pro-illegal assistance language and dollars to the bill ex post facto.

Language NOT appearing in the text version Congress sent to Trump for his signature. It would be an abomination committed by the GOP- controlled senate if the bill was signed into law under these circumstances. Or else Trump will have sold his base out. Take your pick.

The problem is, the bill Trump may sign will make any actions he takes later ineffective.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Exactly why PDJT needs to ignore his GOP pseudo supporters, and veto the bill. Enough kicking the can down the road.Have the battle FOR America NOW!

I say there is a wicked replacement for McCain in the form of Romney crawling around in the Senate.

He is going to cause trouble along with the two nitwits, Collins and Murkowski.

Got a call from RNC and promised a pledge. I have changed my mind and will send a note instead of a check.

DO NOT support any republican senators who does not support President Trump. Including that disappointing worm, Thune.

Correct. Though Trump would have been fooled into or selling his base out even without those most extreme of provisions.

Just this stuff that was in what was sent to him was bad enough:

NumbersUSA tends to be plugged in and know their stuff pretty well. They have had that tweet up over 10 hours now and have their recommended response to the situation up on their website:

Why should Coulter stop crowing. I cannot stand her, but she is right. Trump caved. Why not just go with another CR. We ran this country on CRs for a period under Obama. Trump would get almost the same amount for a wall (according to Kelleyann Conway) under another CR. There are more landmines in declaring a National Emergency then people think. Eventually the courts may be able to tie him down until well after 2020. Which means this is all theater to keep the unwashed masses in flyover country placated while the UniParty brings in millions of illegals to satisfy their donors. There is NO way of knowing how the SCOTUS will rule on declaring an Emergency and manipulating funds. They may see this Emergency as an Executive Branch overreach. Whoever is advising Trump screwed up, struck out on the shutdown and struck out on this budget bill. Trump needs a new batting coach.

Why only $8 billion?

Instead of automatically asking why I can't have more frosting on the cake, I'm gonna be pleased the cake is bigger and has more frosting than what the Dems and RINOs tried to feed us.

They are symbolic. Because the Posse Comitatus Act forbids them from doing anything but watching and reporting. Human drones that cost more and are less efficient. I know I spent a couple of weeks on a Special MAGTF along the border. Miserable time sleeping with Tarantulas checking for snakes every morning and eating crappy food only to watch illegals and smugglers come across the border and not able doing anything about it.
During an Emergency Trump can suspend the Act, but all hell would break loose and justifiably so. You want the next liberal President declaring an Emergency, suspending the Act and using the military to arrest citizens?

I agree with LS on this. Take the money you can and run.

Once a federal project begins, it is almost impossible to stop it. Take the Big Dig in Boston. Originally it was to be $2.6b but by the time it was done it cost over $15b.

Fact is, those behind the Big Dig knew it would cost much more but they also knew that once they got that spigot going and once construction began, it would become unstoppable and they would be fully funded through completion.

I see the Wall as being in the same category.
