Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday issued a warning to Republicans poised to support President Trump's decision to declare a national emergency at the southern border: the next Democratic president, she said, could do the same on guns.
"A Democratic president can declare emergencies, as well," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "So the precedent that the president is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans."
Pelosi noted that Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 students and faculty dead. She argued that the real national emergency is not illegal border crossings, but gun violence in the U.S.
"Let's talk about today: The one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America," Pelosi said. "That's a national emergency. Why don't you declare that emergency, Mr. President? I wish you would.
"But a Democratic president can do that."

Amazing how effortlessly they gloss over the Bill of Rights like they don’t even exist. The left’s idea of your rights is you’re free to speak your mind in agreement with them and own any gun you want as long as it shoots water.

There is no constitutional right to enter this country illegally
and enforcing that right would lead to civil war and most likely the deaths of the leadership class.

The democrats are going to try and do this anyway! So trump should abandon his constitutional duty to protect the border because the democrats are going to violate the 2nd Amendment?
They probably should have come up with a different case.
Come to DC and you will discover the error of your thinking. Super soakers in the swimming pool are the entryway training for toxic masculinity syndrome. Just because they shoot water, they are still guns and snowflakes are still triggered. Besides owning a private swimming pool is racist, and sexist and fat-shaming.
I hope a democrat President does exactly that or maybe declare a national emergency on ‘hate speech’ or against the Christian religion, or against the right to freedom of assembly. See the difference?

I hope the next democrat does declare a national emergency that requires LEOs to take up all privately owned arms, I really do. Nothing would end the generations of democrat BS nearly as quickly.
The national emergency situation...if one attached it to gun control, would have one immediate peril...it violates a ‘freedom’ (2nd Amendment). In this case, with the potential executive order that Trump would issue, it violates NO freedom, or Amendment.
It’s like Bush’s order on 9/11 and the week after....to halt all air travel. That was not a right. He was within the reasoning of his power. If any Democratic President wants to attempt to flip gun control as an emergency order...he’d be in violation of his power, and face immediate impeachment.
The order curious part of this discussion is that various states have language in their own state Constitution which agrees with the 2nd Amendment, so those states would remind the Democratic President of their own personal power.
Frankly, I’d just wondering who exactly the Democratic President would call upon to seize or control weapons. Most law enforcement would laugh, and just walk away from such an order.
Its moving money around vs violating an explicit constitutional protection. Not rocket science.
