Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s now infamous talking points on the Green New Deal are the most unintentionally honest explanation of the neo-socialism now gripping the Democratic Party. Too honest, apparently. After her office sent the “FAQ” to NPR, The Post and other news organizations, and posted a similar version on her congressional website, they were met with withering criticism — prompting Ocasio-Cortez to furiously backtrack, seeking to disown and discredit documents her office had produced, posted and distributed. Sorry, you don’t get to do that. Ocasio-Cortez told us what is really behind her Green New Deal. Now she, and the Democrats who endorsed her plan, have to live with it.
Ocasio-Cortez has been pilloried for her plan to “get rid of farting cows and airplanes,” upgrade or replace “every building in America,” replace “every combustible-engine vehicle” and provide “economic security” for people “unwilling to work” — and rightly so. The old five-year plans of the former Soviet Union are modest, by comparison, in their pursuit of full socialism.
Yet the big untold story is her admission that all of this cannot be paid for simply by taxing the rich. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is campaigning for president on a wealth tax, while Ocasio-Cortez has proposed 70 percent marginal tax rates on wealthy Americans. The message is clear: We’ll soak the millionaires and billionaires and mega-rich corporations so we can give you free stuff.

No planes? I have family in Hawaii. How do I get there? I have coast to coast and abroad business trips. I do I get there in a reasonable amount of time? Are foreign airlines banned from the US? Is China, India, the EU on board with like restrictions? Or are we just taking the US back to the early 19th century while the rest of the world advances through the 21st?

Lost in this Green New Deal is how it would affect food production in this country. Farmers use internal combustion driven machinery to plant, harvest and transport agricultural products to markets. Fossil fuels are also needed to produce fertilizers and pesticides. Would AOC propose we go back farming with horses and oxen... note these animals are also flatulent. The production of plant based foods would have to increase to accommodate the banning of farting cows, pigs and chickens as we move to the Spartacus Booker diet. The Green New Deal would mean mass starvation.

Elon Musk has shown us that the "electrification" of long-haul tracks is feasible. The same technology could be used to develop electric power plants for tractors, combines, and other farm machinery. Now, the cost of retrofit will be huge, but AOC doesn't care about the cost -- or who pays for it

I would tend to argue with you on this point. Transport of raw material would be done using pure-electric rail, replacing the diesel-based electromotive train engines. The actual formulation of fertilizers and pesticides would be done using renewable energy sources. The amount of hydrocarbons actually put into said fertilizers and pesticides would be minuscule compared to the amount used to move the stuff.
Implementation time? Longer than AOC would like. Also, someone would have to make the investment in new eco-friendly train engines -- who would step up to the plate? Musk wanted electric trucks to tote battery packs from Gigafactory in Nevada to his auto plant in California. Anyone know if any company is working on the same for rail?

OK, and then, you could ask; what kind of ocean vessels, sailing ships??? Cuz ocean liners take fuel, just like airplanes do. And, how do you use the P.O.? You'll need vehicles to carry that mail. And, what do vehicles use? Fuel. (and electric vehicles need electricity, and from where does electricity come? Yup! Coal!) God! The left is dumb!!
