Not under a national emergency.

Was talking with a guy yesterday who pointed out the fact Mexico elected a very leftist president who might nationalize the oil industry in Mexico. Remember that is the fork in the road Venezuela took twenty years ago. We know what’s happened since. Imagine if that happens in Mexico.

Has he even signed it yet? I didn’t hear Trump mention once nor endorse the Spending bill during his WH press conference....

A government funding deal that passed Congress late Thursday would block federal officers from arresting undocumented immigrants solely because they come forward to take in migrant children.

I'm okay with that. Arrest and deport those illegals because they are criminals in our country illegally. That is more than sufficient, and I doubt that "taking in 'migrant' children" is even a valid charge.

...more than 100 people who were taken into custody from July through November despite having no criminal record.

Ha ha ha! People are taken into custody every day who have no criminal record (yet)!

I dunno.

I hope that he doesn’t sign it, but it seems like he will.

Personally, regardless or any wall or no wall, I wouldn’t sign my name to what’s in this bill. Can’t.

I don’t care if the government closes. If this is what then government is going to do, then all of it can close.

I don’t think that I am going to turn my back on Trump for signing it, because I can understand how he feels that he must, and he is still fighting on our behalf, so I am not going to cut him loose over this.

But I don’t see how that even matters at this point, because I am disgusted with the GOP, and I will cut them loose over this. These people are pure evil. They not our friends. These people are our enemies.

And then, of course, when I, and possibly many others ,cut the GOP loose, the Demonrats take over and everything turns to sh!t.

I don’t know what else to say at this point, there just isn’t any way to pretend that this is a good bill to sign, and there’s no way to even pretend that the people involved with the creation of this bill are good.

I agree with you. Congress cannot overwrite laws in such a way as to cater to specific instances. What is the job of DHS, and the border patrol except to protect the country, not enable people to resettle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We do not have to wait until illegal aliens are caught and convicted of other crimes here, they are illegal aliens, that is sufficient to detain and deport.
Trump is working hard to lose his grip over his base of supporters by signing this bill and leaving out the necessary provisions to enforce immigration laws.
What’s missing from the bill are the rest of the enforcement provisions from the ONE TIME amnesty of 32 years ago. The list goes like this -
1) the southern border barrier
2) eVerify permanence
3) birthright citizenship per Minor v Happersett (plural citizen parents)
4) end all chain migration
5) end H1b, F1, and visa lottery
6) moratorium on new applications for citizenship for 10 years (40 years to allow assimilation and downsize automated work force).
Anything less is a threat to We the People. No border + no voter id = ?? (if you can’t figure it out you shouldn’t be voting)
Right now many mothers in third world countries are viewing their children in dollar signs and what they can sell them for. Disgusted that Trump signed this. But then again he was going to defend Planned Parenthood also.
Wake me up when he’s willing to put up a fight over anything.
Yeah, but this time Congress has the votes to override a veto ...
Not true.
You make a point that most people here have ignored or simply don’t understand.
No. The point you ignore is that many Republicans in the Senate voted for the bill because the president said that he would sign it.
That's just one person's interpretation. Trump can interpret the bill any way he wants. Who will stop him?
This legislative constraint is unlawful and unenforceable.
The executive branch would have standing regardless of whether Trump vetoed the bill and it was overridden.
I think you are right. It is better for him not to sign the bill. It will become law in 10 days in that case unless he decides to veto it.
"Was talking with a guy yesterday who pointed out the fact Mexico elected a very leftist president who might nationalize the oil industry in Mexico"
The oil industry in Mexico is already run by the government. You can't nationalize it any more than it already is. Wikipedia says the date it was nationalized was back in 1938.
By signing it, he has agreed to the provisions. His hands are tied.
The deal expires in September.
