Read the article.
2010. Want to guess by whom?
According to the article, you're wrong. I've read other articles on this topic that agree with this one.
I think you’re referring to the Community Survey, not the official US Census. The Survey is sent to a sampling of the population.
Results of the Survey are provided (sold?) to marketing agencies to identify demographics that help firms make decisions on whether or not to open new business projects based on economy, ethnicity, age, infrastructure, etc.
If you receive a Community Survey, just put it in the trash.
IF ROBERTS GOES AGAINST THIS..
EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD REFUSE TO BE COUNTED...
(and don’t bitch about my all caps...because I am YELLING AND OUT LOUD TOO)
Other articles said it was taken off in the ‘50s - I was around but too young to care about it.
I say, when RBG gets replaced, we should make a deal with Democrats! Help us get rid of Roberts & we'll give them Merrick Garland!
Time to show Republicans, being a RINO has consequences!!!!!!!
It sure seems that SCOTUS jumps quickly to “review” something when the Dems aren’t getting their way in the legislatures or lower courts...
Read the link Mewzilla has in post #22. It has a nice chart of the various times the birthplace and citizenship questions have been on the census, or the long form / ACS.

Here would be a fun couple of questions, both for demographics and for annoying liberals:
Are you a:
- Native American (citizen)
- Naturalized citizen
- Lawful Permanent Resident
- Foreign owner of household/property
- None of the above
If you are not Native American, what country were/are you from?
If you are a Native American, are you:
- First Generation
- Second Generation
- Third Generation
- etc
- etc
What country(ies) are your ancestors from? (List all that you know)
Ha! I suspected so.
Thanks - looks like it was used even more extensively than I though...then they tapered off with the smaller percentages....must have been Dems looking to the future...
Thanks. Just looked at it.
“It was asked on the extended forms that only went to select households.
I received one of them in 2010-threw it in the trash.”
I have received TWO of them and had a Census worker come to the house THREE times over the last 20+ years!
I only answer the first few, required, questions and leave the remainder blank.
I, politely, tell the Census worker to leave as I will NOT answer any of their questions.
Also, while doing serious family tree research I've seen that citizenship was listed on census reports of the early 1900s.
So I cannot see how this would be unconstitutional.
Lemme guess...
Roberts will be a no.
Future genealogists will want the info.
That right there is the biggest reason and/or issue. Even if the illegal isn’t voting, the census does affect the representation of a district, city, state, and at the federal level. Why should an illegal immigrant, not afforded an actual vote, still be able to affect the representation of a region?
Second, last I checked...no one actually checks the truth of the questions asked. So why wouldn’t they just lie anyway?
