KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A new social media challenge is gaining popularity among teens but not so much with police.
Although teenagers might think the newest social media challenge is cool, the "48-Hour Challenge" only does two things: causes panic in parents and wastes valuable law enforcement resources.

Lacy and others are very concerned about the latest challenge, where teens dare their friends to disappear for 48 hours with the goal that their name and/or picture will show up on social media.
The missing teen gets points for each like, share and other viewer interactions.
"We are going to take that call very serious," Lacy said. "You are wasting our time, and you are wasting our resources.

I had a conversation with a young woman today. She just turned 30, very successful, owns her own business, etc. She went on a major RANT about the ignorance of today’s youth, as she needs to hire them for her company.

Of course it will just be old photos but they can probably match dental records or extract DNA from the remains, when they are found.
I agree. That would be great think for AOC to do. Actually, youth that do this should be subject to legal consequences, perhaps some community service. There has to be some sort of punitive action for false reporting and wasting law enforcement’s time.
Maybe the price of hookers will drastically decrease when there’s a sudden influx of sex slave teens.

This takes kids spending their time in the phantom world of social media to a new level.

That’s a mean, childish thing to do to your family.
When the truth is known, the parents may never trust their kid again to the same degree. “If he lied about this, what else has he been lying about?”
Some kids may be the one’s sitting surprised, when no Amber Alert, no Police Report, no Facebook Panic Videos are posted.
There are such families who wouldn’t mind if certain of their kids took a 48 hour vacation, announced or otherwise.

This generation seems to take hourly selfies. In between, they take pics of each other. No shortage of photos for ID.
Plus they can get their DNA from 23 and Me!

After the Bird Box challenge, I hate to ask what stupid idea people can sell to some of these idiots. I guess this is one of those ideas.
Just what do they mean by ‘disappear’? And what ages are we talking about?
