Andrew McCarthy: McCabe, Rosenstein And The Real Truth About The 25th Amendment Coup Attempt
Fox News ^ | 2-16-2019 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 02/16/2019 9:34:38 PM PST by blam

Ever wonder why people hate lawyers? Consider Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s non-denial denial of his participation in discussions of an attempted coup against the duly elected president of the United States.

The story is being given a second life thanks to the hype surrounding the rollout of a new book by Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI.

McCabe, of course, was fired after an inspector general investigation found that he leaked investigative information and then lied about it. He has been referred to the Justice Department for consideration of a false-statements prosecution.

There is no doubt that, when he was acting FBI director after President Trump’s May 2017 firing of Director James Comey, McCabe huddled with Rosenstein to mull over options for removing the president from office.

But we have known this for six months – ever since The New York Times published its bombshell report. Indeed, at the time, I wrote a column about it for National Review titled “Rod Rosenstein’s Resistance – weasel words, weasel moves from an emotionally overwrought deputy AG eager to ingratiate himself with Democrats.”

There are really no new revelations in this week’s breathless reporting. The story is a retread, trotted out again because CBS is hoping to generate ratings for its “60 Minutes” interview of McCabe on Sunday night, the launch of the McCabe book tour.

There has been a good deal of commentary this week about whether McCabe and Rosenstein were seriously brainstorming about a coup attempt; or whether, instead, discussions about invoking the 25th Amendment and possibly “wiring up” against the president (i.e., covertly recording him) were just graveyard humor. The truth is somewhere in the middle: The conversation was no joke, but the idea was lunacy.

ANDREW MCCARTHY: MUELLER’S REPORT IS FOR AN AUDIENCE OF ONE, BUT IT ISN’T PRESIDENT TRUMP

This is equivalent to an assassination attempt.

Is anyone going to do ANYTHING?

I get your thoughts on it, but it was simply intended to replace him at the helm. It wasn’t about murdering him.

Look, I think it reached the level of a conspiracy.

It looks actionable to me.

Of course a man with a smoking gun over Trump’s body wouldn’t look actionable to this FBI and the Justice Department.

I’m not holding my breath. If Barr was serious, this is what he should do: 1. Tell Mueller to end his investigation in one month, otherwise fire him. 2. Drop all pending charges against Flynn, Corsi, and Stone, and Manafort. 3. Start a criminal investigation into Rosenstein, McCabe, Ohr, Yates, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, and anyone else instrumental in obtaining any FISA approval for surveillance. 4. Look into the Clinton Foundation. Never mind Hillary, the foundation is nothing but a money laundering operation, the Clintons will all go down if it is looked into. 5.Open a criminal investigation into how the Steele Dossier was used by Hillary and Perkins-Coie to start the Special Counsel “investigation.” As I said, I am not holding my breath.

These people in the Justice Department are just government employees. They are paid to work in our interest. They are not politicians.
Yet, just like Lois Lerner (who is still laughing) they decide to work against the will of the American people and to the benefit of the Democrat Political Party.

I've About Had Enough!!

Is anyone going to do ANYTHING? -

I suspect the Mueller deal will just dissipate after its collapse. As McCarthy points out in the piece, Mueller’s office need not say anything one way or the other. They’ll refuse to charge the president or exonerate him. They’ll leave it out there for the fake news media to endlessly talk through the 2020 re election win.

When the president wins in 2020, scores will be settled - make book on it. JMHO

I agree with that.

The real problem was that the Republicans in Congress didn’t have his back at all.

They were just as guilty as the Democrats. Nobody came to his defense.

It’s like these morons didn’t pay attention to the 8 years of the O’muslim usurpation. People are shocked....That’s why Andrew McCarthy didn’t ‘get’ the 2016 election.

Rotten rod signed the fraudulent warrant on carter page(to spy on Trump), was willing to wear a wire(25th) and launched the mueller coup. How many bites at the coup apple does this jerkoff get before he’s fired?

Trump should’ve appointed a special counsel a year and a half ago.

Rod Rosenstein is a liar.

At best he is merely a liar and back stabbing SOB. I think the other poster was correct - this seems to have gone well past being an untrustworthy POS and well into the conspiracy realm. Rosenstein and his cohorts' actions should be investigated.

Ever wonder why people hate lawyers?

No, not any more. I've known just enough lawyers to have determined they are a horrid sub species of near-human. The three lawyers I have had any significant interaction with have all turned out to be thieves and liars. I know first hand they have stolen money. I couldn't prove it to a DA or a court, but I know, I know. Similarly, they have all lied to me, to family, to the courts, everyone. Again, nothing I can prove to get a conviction or disbarment, but I know. Thieves and $@*()@#% lying POS. I wouldn't spit on the sidewalk to save any of their lives.

This is equivalent to an assassination attempt.

What would you say if I told you that the word around the campfire is that there is DOCUMENTATION that this den of traitors discussed ACTUAL assassination?

That's the rumor, anyway.

I can't say more out here beyond the trees.

So it's both removal by 25th amend. AND assassination talks (documented/intercepted).

AND some would have you believe there have been SEVERAL attempts already.

Why should DOJ have any role here now? Too many were complicit at DOJ and adjudication should be via military tribunals. This is sedition which is tantamount to rebellion which is an act of war. We don’t wage war with judges and juries. Rebellions are quashed by the military and in this case tribunals and executions.

The DOJ will function a lot better in the future and be more accountable to the people if they go through this purge.

I keep wondering about the missing element to this story, ie: Judicial Branch anger at being played by the corrupt officials of the FBI/DOJ over the inappropriate FISA warrants on Carter Page and George Papadopoulos. Where is Chief Justice Robert’s outrage at having his elite judges of the top secret FISA court made tools of? And what impact, if any, has it had on more recent and, hopefully, legitimate warrants for actually dangerous situations? It does not engender confidence in those of us who are aware of the con.
