Why should I should subsidize those who live in high tax states? They voted for these local idiots, they should pay full price for their paradise. My son and his family are leaving California this week and his company will become profitable for the first time just by moving across the state line.

I understand your POV, but I am thinking of working people who bought their houses like they were supposed to (and thus, have ongoing property taxes to pay)...and, of course, who cannot force their states to lower or change any taxes...
it is unfair to change the rules for their homes, home budgets.... in the middle of the stream, imho

also, there are many many Americans with costs of working jobs...that they at least used to be able to deduct as necessary expenses of working...being productive,... and now suddenly, with zero cause or any allegations even of abuses, they have had those costs disallowed... meaning they’ve suffered a tax hike....an effective pay cut... for working the same jobs they’ve always worked.....no discussion, no reason, just take more money away from working people...
(WHILE BUSINESS PEOPLE ARE STILL PERMITTED TO DEDUCT SIMILAR COSTS OF GENERATING INCOME, which I support... so no argument there, but it is SO unfair to screw their workers without cause just because they receive W-2’s)

again, there was no significant or visible discussion, even, Congress just did this to working Americans ... I estimate that only 10 or 20 percent of workers will experience significantly higher taxes from losing these long-standing costs-of-working deductions, but there are still a lot of working folks who will get “hit”.. again, without cause, without discussion, without any policy purpose other than to increase tax collections (on working people and not on their employer businesses, so it looks pretty awful politically speaking, too)

ok, well... typing here don’t fix anything much.. so thanks for your thoughts and I will sign off now
all the best for a happy, if not necessarily prosperous, new year
