To the east, the homes and businesses of Casa Grande dot the landscape. To the north, the lights of Phoenix glimmer in the distance. But to the west and south, there is just desert as far as the eye can see.
It is this vantage point that is coveted by Mexican drug cartel scouts, stationed up here for weeks at a time, and tasked with one job: guiding drug shipments north from the border.
“They’re radioing in, letting the smugglers know when it’s time to start going,” said Detective Eddie Castro, with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
Castro works on the smuggling unit. And business is brisk in this area, about 40 miles south of Phoenix, near Interstate 8. It’s a straight shot through the desert from the border with Mexico.

Cartel scouts are all along the border area located on high spots where they can see for miles. Not people to be messed with. I am actually surprised the reporters lived to tell about what they found.

The article is from Feb, 2016. I wonder if this situation has changed much since then.
One of the issues in this area is the Gila River Indian Reservation encompasses a lot of this land. I have heard nothing but bad stuff about this particular reservation and the conduct to be encountered. Likewise, Law Enforcement is working with Tribal Police and tribal restrictions in this area at the state and federal level.
No things have not changed. I don’t know about AZ but where I am it is worse
The border was pretty quiet for a while after President Trump took office because he was serious about enforcement. Then judges began to rule against his enforcement policies.
The asylum seekers began to trickle in, then became a flood. The large groups tie up Border Patrol which means smugglers can move drugs, people. The groups are a diversion for other criminals.
Where I live it is currently worse than 2016, brought to us by those that oppose Trump on border, immigration.

Also probably guiding large pallets of cash to DNC Headquarters and Ms. Pelosi’s bank.

I truly don’t know any more than rumors about the situation with that reservation. The irony is years ago when Customs was under Treasury they had Treasury Agents who were CPO or Customs Patrol Officers horseback on that border and they and Border Patrol had the border secure. My brother in law was a CPO officer and supervisor of the last horse patrol unit there until it was disbanded. Customs hired the Indians there as trackers and had a good relationship with the reservation. There are still trackers on the reservation and I think they are the only CPO officers there are now, not sure they are still called that. Now on most of the border Customs are Customs Inspectors and work at Ports of Entry though they do have agents that do investigative things. I did hear the relationship most of the Indians have now is not good with Border Patrol. I hear a lot of drugs and people move through there. I don’t know other than what I hear.
We have a lot of the same things going on here now that happen in that part of AZ and we don’t have a reservation so not sure it is all to blame. What we have now is there is a real fence East of us and West of us on the border and there is a long stretch here that is just barb wire cattle fence so the illegal stuff is funneled through this area. We do have the cartel scouts that work in the hills around here, we have the large groups of asylum seekers distracting Border Patrol while smugglers bring drugs and people through.
I do not doubt there is a lot of money finding its way to D.C. that is why though I think the open border crowd is after votes I think the money is even more important to them. With $$$$$ and votes as payoffs they can’t resist for sure.
All true. It’s the only explanation. In the end, always follow the money. I’s sure the overseas bank accounts of the Rats and RINOs are growing well, and growing quickly.
If not for Trump, we’d be skipping along, completely clueless as to how deep the corruption is in DC. And I think it’s too terrible, and too late to fix.
Being a golden ager has its up side. I don’t want to be here when everything collapses. (Or maybe it has already and we haven’t recognized it.)
