TRUMP: “THE TWILIGHT HOUR OF SOCIALISM”
Powerline ^ | 19 Feb 2019 | Scott Johnson

Posted on 02/19/2019 3:14:50 PM PST by Rummyfan

President Trump has rejected the status quo ante in American foreign policy. He has rededicated the United States to the support of Israel. He has withdrawn the United States from the disgraceful deal with Iran. He has tightened the sanctions regime with the intent of disabling the mullahs. He has shaken up matters with the North Korean regime in the interest of putting their nuclear weapons program on the path of termination. He has now come out for the removal of the socialist dictator of Venezuela. I could multiply the examples, but you can fill in the blanks. In each of these cases, Trump is right and Obama was wrong.

Yesterday President Trump went to Florida International University in Miami to give a speech on Venezuela before a friendly and raucous audience. I am unable to find either the text or the video on the White House site. I have posted a news video of the speech in its entirety below. It is a gloriously Reaganite speech; it is a great speech. In it Trump stands for freedom against the forces of socialism, tyranny and immiseration.

Trump notes in the course of the speech that National Security Advisor John Bolton is in the house. Readers of Surrender Is Not An Option will infer that he had a hand in the speech. He is an old-fashioned conservative.

Trump is forcing the issue in Venezuela. The United States is on the right side. It is leading in the push to get Maduro out of there. Events are coming to a head. This speech is part of the pressure intended to produce a constructive outcome. It merits your attention.

Imagine what he could have done if the Republicans were on his side.

I’m picturing the 2020 presidential debates with Trump against the nominee of the Communist National Committee. Along with the asinine things the chosen candidate has said in the past, it will be a socialist to bow to their ridiculous constituents, sprinkle some incompetency in the mix they all hold valiantly. He’s going to rip them a new one unprecedented and it will resonate with the majority of voters, if not the world. You think the last debates had fireworks ... hold on to your pussy cat hats, snowflakes.

Don’t forget he has also crushed goat effer state and finally put Yurps on notice that their freeloading off of Uncle Sugar was unacceptable.

Just as with the economy, his handling of foreign policy has been spectacular.

Trump is the Gatling Gun of politics.
He’s a flawed leader, but perhaps the only one capable of withstanding the media/socialist onslaught.

All of my life, I have watched the socialists/communists promise utopia while delivering hell on earth.

I hope he’s right; I fear he’s not.

Athough he may be correct in saying “the twilight hour of socialism has arrived in our hemisphere", I agree with you that it is way too early to suggest a "twilight" has arrived in the U.S. (And I am confident he is clearly aware of that.)

A quick look around the nation suggests quite the opposite, that socialism has steadily been on a rise during our lifetime rather than a decline.

It would be encouraging if we had a national opposition political party inclined to step up and effectively address the current unmistakable swerve towards socialism.

It’s interesting to me that the prepper movement which was so popular on FR just a couple of years ago has died out. As interesting as it was, it was a worthless movement because when socialism comes (and it will comes to the USA in a very ugly way) hiding food only leads to theft and execution. I think our prepper freepers either realized that or just lost faith and interest.

Trump is only one man and he can’t save the entire country. God bless him.

He’s not so flawed as a leader.
He IS the one leading.

I’m kinda sad you agree with me; you must be as pessimistic as I am. We are in for a sad future.

Even if he is right Trump only lasts 8 years max. Remember what happened after Reagan? Things went downhill fast. Look at the POTUS candidates for 2020. They give me the chills.

Socialism is alive and well in America. It is ready to grow and flourish under the DNC that will regain power because the GOP has given up and picked their side.
