That’s pretty interesting. So people trying to find out their ancestry are actually getting into the data banks and lending a helping hand to those investigators looking for criminals.

They can tell by the percentage of DNA match to how close a relative it is. If it is say a 50% match they know to look at your cousins. If it is a higher percentage it is a closer relative like a son/daughter/brother/sister.

Here’s the story from last year that first brought this to my attention. It’s incredibly sad that this guy destroyed so many lives. The DNA ancestry sites were used to catch him.
