The runner talked about going through neighborhoods unserved by good government, with alleys littered with trash and old appliances. It’s as if his point is the government goes into homes and randomly throws objects out into piles in alleys. Yet if he goes 3 miles north into the suburbs, their government doesn’t empty home possessions onto sidewalks - government there is good and helpful.

He wants his community to be integrated, but the photos of his running group shows nothing but black members.

The real problem that goes unmentioned is that if the neighborhood has “fallen”, it isn’t safe to jog there anyway; he’d have to travel to a non-black area to run safely.

Newark NJ has painted bicycle lanes on streets where whites haven’t lived in decades; nobody uses them, but it maintains the illusion of a functioning city.
