Opinion: Americans should recoil as Democrats go crazy-left
The Washington Examiner ^ | February 21, 2019 | by Quin Hillyer

The American public should be appalled by the radical lurch to the left that the Democratic Party is now taking.

On issue after issue, leading Democrats now openly promote positions that liberal Democrats just 10 or 15 years ago once strongly rejected as being too extremely left-wing. This is true in at least six issue areas: abortion/infanticide, healthcare, environmental edicts, taxation, socialism, and anti-Semitism.

It may be facile for conservatives to attack the term “socialist,” but more and more Democrats are embracing not just its tenets but the label itself. [snip]

For those who missed them, these were the words of Gov. Ralph Northam: "The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."

This is horrifying.

No wonder wise old Democratic hands such as former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell are saying their party’s crazy-left turn could get President Trump re-elected in response.

There are still enough Americans with enough common sense to be angered by ideas so radical as to dangerously undermine American civil society. That’s the direction Democrats are going in. They ought to reverse course, and soon.

Election 2020 should be about the radical democrat embrace of infanticide.

It’s not so much they’ve changed, they simply dropped the façade of moderation.

Dems have calculated that they’ve indoctrinated enough young voters that the party can now take off their mask. It’s incredibly disturbing to think that they may be right.

Ed Rendell is one of them-just smart enough to keep his trap shut.

2020 should be about the Left’s embrace of everything Evil.

They “SHOULD” have recoiled decades ago.

The question is will they?

Or will they embrace their media brainwashing masters?

More like public schools have done a fine job as have parents in turning over the raising of their children to the state and it’s end goals.

Never going to happen. White women will continue to supply the Democrats with the votes they need to ensure the eventual rape and murder of all white women.

Why recoil? IMHO, ridicule them while presenting the facts on why they're wrong. Laugh heartily!

Democrats have a death wish for anyone not agreeing with democrats. And then if one is stupid enough to agree with democrats ..... democrats will then want to kill you ..... democrats are worse than crazy and beyond insane .... anyone voting for democrats or rinos is better off voting for Mickey Mouse or some other cartoon character. At least cartoon characters are fictional

They calculated wrong. Young voters don't vote, and I see no reason to see that changing within 21 months. At least for 2020. We oldsters (and I'm 55, so I consider myself one of them) will crawl over broken glass to keep Trump in office. After that, America, you're on your own.

Any American that looks at the issues and has half a brain would never vote for any democrat. But the gimmedat society of today really doesn’t give a crap about the future. Pretty soon they will outnumber us and we will really be up the shiite creek without a paddle.

Belief in socialism is like other addictions. It feels really good. And like other addictions, people keep wanting more until they “hit rock bottom” regardless of how their life goes off the rails while they feed their addiction.

Most addicts stop before they actually hit rock bottom. I read somewhere “the road to rock bottom includes living in a dark alley giving BJs for the next hit and maybe getting enough food to survive until tomorrow”. That’s not even the bottom but a step on the way. Most addicts don’t reach that rock bottom before turning their life around.

We can only hope, like most addicts, voters change their life before rock bottom. Otherwise we’ll become a dark alley like Venezuela on the path to rock bottom.

The following is an excerpt from the "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" (1886) (celebrating America's 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence) by Black Ohio Legislator and A.M.E. Bishop Benjamin W. Arnett on "The Greatness of America."

- Note that this Sermon is delivered only a few years after the end of the Civil War by this outstanding scholar/legislator/Bishop of the A.M.E. Church.

"Let us see what it is that makes us so great; wherein lies our strength. What has made us one of the greatest powers of the earth, politically and intellectually? Have we come to the conclusion that it is Righteousness that exalteth a nation? We have met to-day at the request of the President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, and also the Governor of our beloved State, Rutherford B. Hayes. For what? Why call us from our homes? Why come to the house of God? Why not go to the hall of mirth and to the places of amusement to-day? No that is not what they want us to do. We are commanded to go to our 'several places of worship, and there offer up thanks to Kind Providence which has brought our nation through the scenes of another year, and blessed the land with peace, plenty and prosperity.' Then as Americans we have reason to rejoice and congratulate ourselves on the greatness of our beloved country; at this the close of the first hundred years of experimental government of the people, by the people, and for the people. To be a citizen of this vast country is something, and to share in its privileges and duties is more than something." - Dr. Benjamin W. Arnett, 1876 "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" - Library of Congress - African-American Section
If current generations of youth in America go to the LOC web site and read this lengthy Address by a remarkable Black scholar of history, Ohio State Legislator, and A.M.E. Bishop, who had lived through the years surrounding the Civil War, then their perspective might be enhanced, enlarged and encouraged by their pride in such an intellectual giant from America's history.
