It’s a terrible shame that people are now starting to doubt the Emmitt Till story; that’s something new and disturbing. I guess this is what happens when too many hoaxes occur over the course of several years...
Mrs. Till wrote a very good book. I read it about 10 years ago. It’s well worth searching for if you are interested.

Well that was fun, my computer just obliterated the two paragraphs I had written, so now I am in remember mode.
I asked, did the book you read, have any additional information that proves what has been said in this thread. Was the story of his father being hanged for rape in WWII corroborated by the book.
It appears that the entire tragedy was precipitated by a young visitor’s inexperience with the state of mind in 1955 MS regarding race relations. I was living in AL at the time and remember how things were.
I remember as much as any fifteen year old might remember from way back when.

Mrs. Till (I think her name was Mamie, could be wrong) does briefly mention that her husband got in bad trouble in the army. I think she goes on to say that black men were often blamed for trouble caused by white soldiers. While I don’t think this was always the case, I imagine in the army of that time, it did happen. I knew Harold Nicholas of the famed dance team, The Nicholas Brothers, and Harold had a horrible time in the army. So, who knows what the truth is?
According to Emmitt’s cousins, he did whistle at the owner of the store. It was a dare that didn’t pay off. I still wonder why that stupid woman thought it was necessary to call out her husband and others to avenge her “honor.” If you see film of the trial, the murderers laughed, chewed gum, and ate food as people were testifying. They look like men of sub-normal intelligence.
I’m sorry, but I no longer believe the stupid, “He just WHISTLED at a white lady” story anymore.

What do you believe? That he did more than whistle? That he wasn’t lynched? That he did something that deserved a lynching? There is good reason to stop dwelling on the distant past and reject false hate crimes, but no reason to deny the reality of lynchings that really occurred.

I've used the Emmett Til example several times over the past few days - as a way of condemning liberal group think. The Times is delusional... and they're part of the toxic group think going on today.
How many times are they going to write about the Emmett Till murder? While that was certainly a terrible thing to happen it has finally been settled.

In 2016, she admitted she admitted that the she exaggerated the touching and the profane language, presumably to help the defendants escape justice. Her family later denied this, but of course they have reason to lie with people still interested in charging her all these years later.
Louis Till was executed when Emmitt was 4 years old and spent most of his son's life overseas. Whatever he did is completely irrelevant in any case unless you think rape runs in the blood.
In the interest of "context" it's worth pointing out Carolyn later divorced Roy on account of his “habitual cruel and inhuman treatment of her and of habitual drunkenness," which he did not dispute in court. That sounds to me like the type of guy who would coerce his wife to exaggerate in court to save his ass after he did something murderously stupid.

Posted above is the story exposing the author of the book who claimed that Mrs. Bryant recanted her story. His tape recording conveniently wasn’t on when she made the alleged recantation. This is the type of crap we need to fight back on. Emmitt Till assaulted this woman. He grabbed her wrist, to which she had to fight to get him to release his hand. He then followed her in family’s store and grabbed her arm again, put both hands around her waist and said “I’ve f-ed white women before.” Again, nobody thinks that this criminal behavior deserved a death sentence by private actors. (BTW, in the 1950s South, this behavior with a married woman would have resulted in an ass-kicking regardless of whether the guy was black or white). However, my point is that leftists lie about every one of these incidents. Till didn’t just “whistle” at a white woman. He was trying to sexually assault a white woman. Big difference.
