An Arizona law enforcement official has reportedly been disciplined after he was caught on camera threatening to arrest a 12-year-old reporter this week.
Hilde Lysiak is a young journalist who publishes the Orange Street News out of her parents home in Selinsgrove, Pa.
The preteen was in the small town of Patagonia, Ariz., on Monday when she was confronted by Joseph Patterson, the town marshal, The Washington Post reported.
Hilde caught the official, whose position is equivalent to a police chief, falsely claiming that it was illegal for her to film him and publish his face online.
Patterson had allegedly threatened to throw her in juvenile jail before she started filming.
The town of Patagonia posted on its website Wednesday that it has received numerous comments concerning the interaction.
The matter has been carefully reviewed and we have taken action we believe to be appropriate for the situation, the website states. We do not publicly disclose personnel actions including discipline and will have no further comment on this matter.

A jackbooted thug, with wholly exaggerated notions of his own power and importance.
He usually just sits on the side of the road trying to raise money for the town. I always make sure I’m not exceeding the speed limit when I drive through.
There sure seems to be a lot of people in positions of authority who have absolutely no business being in those positions.
Why is a 12-year old from PA travelling the country playing a reporter. Shouldn't they be in school?
Got one for ya, nully.
It is due to the conundrum that those who seek power shouldn't have it and those that don't seek power should.
A grown man in a position of authority bullies a 12 year old girl and that’s your concern?
Are you running interference for this bullying cop?
Yup.
So you ARE running inteference for a cop who bullied and lied to a 12 year old girl.
Sad.
Just another jackboot threatening Americans and those who dare question their “power”.
As of the 2010 census Patagonia had a population of 913.
Not to get technical - the guy is a Town Marshall. The basic principles of these municipal governments are found in Article 13 of the Arizona Constitution. Current laws regarding Arizona cities and town are available from Title 9 of the Arizona Revised Statutes. https://www.azleg.gov/arsDetail/?title=9 The Town Marshal operates under Title 9.137. This means he has the same throw weight as a proper copper in any of the large cities....also means he/she has the same restrictions.
Yup. With his lies he sets a bad example for young kids. The young girl was reporting from the age of 9 years and appears to know her rights, probably learned from her dad who I understand is a reporter. Certainly not a good thing for cops to intimidate and bully a young girl rather than be honest and use helpful dialog. The guy is full of himself and is not serving the public good by being outrageous.
Homes schooled on a working field trip would be my estimation.
On top of that, he’s a lying s.o.s.
Monday was a Holiday... Presidents Day.
Perhaps she was wearing a red hat or enagaging in other provocative behavior that would offend you?
LOL! Virtue signaling loser.
PS - try spell check!
I just got finished saying on another thread that every single person every 12-year-old 11-year-old 10-year-old old young and in between all have a video camera with them at all times now which is kind of incredible now is it a video camera that you can video health but then you could post it on social media and 20 million see it in 10 minutes with no filter
