I do not know what percent of them are sending money home to bank accounts. By doing such, they are earning money for their future. These banks are earning them good interest rates. Imagine having $100,000 in an Ecuador bank. You could go back to Ecuador and live quite comfortably at a young age. Once the money runs out, you could draw U.S. Social Security. One of those checks every month would put you in fat city for the rest of your life. That’s the ticket!

Americans don’t like criminals.

If you came here illegally you are a criminal.

If you work here you are an even greater criminal, ID theft!

I was thinking the same thing!

The made-up "HISPANIC"/"LATINO/A" etc. depends SOLELY on if the person's first/second language is Spanish/a patois of of Spanish. In Mexico, Central, and South America there are whites, blacks,Asians, mixed, and Indians; that at least 5 RACES!

And it is NOT looked at as a good thing that White Americans can speak Spanish, but NOT a good thing that non whites can.

What a stupid article!

Some Hispanics are just as white as I am. Maybe
whiter if I’ve been out working in the sun.

And in 2019 nobody goes around using melanin levels as criteria for sizing-up others anyway.

This is a BOGUS argument.

latinos per-se are not a race. They are a language/dialect group. Traditionally the CA and SA latinos that have dark hair, dark eyes and dark skin are mixed race, either SA indian or African.

As recently as the Santa Anna era, there were no messicans in America. To move to Texas, NM, or AZ where there was zero protection from the messican govt, meant death or enslavement by Apache/Commache, who had already made winter sport of raiding northern Messico for slaves and supplies. Messico even tried offering money for people to settle but there were no takers. Which is why Messico was delighted to pay Americanos to move into Texas, which Houston and others took advantage of.

Latino music may be more popular in CA and SA, but country music IS more popular than peasant music in America except in those enclaves where the peasants have chased the Americans out. And in those areas they must all be hard of hearing because every one thinks they are the neighborhood DJ.

I still haven’t received my 1099 form from social security.

So I went to their online site get it and found I had to have an online account with them, first.

The account opening software had a number of multiple choice security questions. Where had I lived before? It then listed three cities with a fourth choice of none of the above.

I chose none of the above.

The next question had to do with when I last made mortgage payments. I haven’t had a mortgage in thirty years. None of the above. When did I last make a car payment? None of the above.

And then it bounced me out. So I called SS on the phone. The guy told me the questions were generated from credit agency reports. I told him they had someone else’s report, then. He took a look at my account and couldn’t find anything wrong. So we locked up my account and he mailed me another 1099.

I hope whoever is using my SS number keeps adding money to it, but he shouldn’t expect anything more than a hat tip from me. Lord knows the SS administration doesn’t give a damn.

Imagine having translators to keep the production process going?

You've picked a nit for me. I am sick and tired tired of mistakes at fast-food establishments. Instances where I ask for NO pickles and all I get on my burger are pickles have increased over the years. The cashier knows English, but the cooks don't. Pi++es me off.

I hate the “under represented” argument. It reminds me of computers in the late 70s through mid 90s. There were no degrees for the most part, and until the 90s very few high schools much less middle schools or kindergardens. It was a brand new bleeding edge field. With no norms no cigar filled rooms, no old boys clubs, and no nepotism. There were no rules or norms. A whole new paradigm to create from scratch. Well, it turned out to be a field dominated by geeky white boys who couldn’t get a date to prom if their lives depended on it and the vast majority of them were self taught. Comes the early nineties when the internet began to explode, but also the mad rush to network every corporation in america, network administrators were so in desperately in demand, you could get a top dollar job even if you had purple and orange polka dot skin with a third arm growing out the back of your head if you could display the barest level of competence. Yet still until the early 2000 it was almost exclusively a world of geeky white boys. Was that because of racism and discrimination? Most of the people who are of that generation who created all the original whiz bang stuff the world takes for granted today, never had a computer at home, nor did they ever take a class on computers, nor had them ubiquitous in their classrooms, so the privelege argument does not fly. People just naturally gravitate to certain things.

The requirement to speak English is not enforced in all the manufacturing jobs I’ve had for several years. I have been with Hispanics, Koreans, Chinese and Ukrainians. Many could speak English, but their pronunciation was so bad you couldn’t understand them. America used to teach migrants, working toward their citizenship, English, American history and our system of governance. It was in 1836 that Calvin Stowe of Ohio warned that “unless we educate our immigrants, they will be our ruin…. The intellectual and religious training of our foreign population has become essential to our own safety”

Ellwood Cubberley, the enormously influential Stanford University professor, argued in 1909 that the highest mission of public education was “to assimilate and amalgamate those people as part of our American race, and to implant in their children, so far as can be done, the Anglo-Saxon conception of righteousness, law and order, and popular government, and to awaken in them a reverence for our democratic institutions and for those things in our national life which we as a people hold to be of abiding worth”

It is RACISS to not assent to the takeover of the United States by ‘Latinos’ (with Sharia Muslims in the wings).

You picked a great example for the problem. Those type of mistakes in the fast food industry must add up to more costs on profits. You should see the product damage I have seen and the waste bins full of it. Much of it came from the inability to understand the words, “Stop the machine!”

As I understand it, the language of air traffic around the world is English - and lack of it has caused real problems.

“What race are “Latinos”?”

As an American and Tejana of Latino/Hispanic ancestry, I can assure you that most of us are primarily of Caucasian ancestry, with varying skin tone, eye and hair color depending on how much of our ancestry is Native American. Some Hispanics from the Caribbean and Brazil obviously have Black ancestors-many from the Philippines have Asian ancestors-Like the Romans, the Spanish never met a group of people they did not want to conquer and enslave-it is why they were called los conquistadores”...

Native American is not a race, any more than Hispanic is-both are simply ethnic groups-it is like compartmentalizing people from different areas of Italy, Siberia, Britain, etc by their skin tone and eye color/shape-in other words, just more bigoted, ridiculous and divisive s***-my ancestors came from Mexico to what is now Texas and NM in the late 1700’s, so I don’t buy into that racist non-assimilation garbage-I don’t know anyone who does.

I speak, read and write Spanish as a 2nd language-learned at home as a child-more than 1/2 of my neighbors speak Spanish as a 2nd language-including those who are Black, and one Indian family-this is a tourist area, and most of the tourists who rent cabins, stay at guest ranches and go to shops and restaurants in the Summer are from Mexico-if you can talk to them, they spend more money at your business-a good thing...

Dumbass Castro is as “white” as I am-he’s just a little darker, and his commie mami is rumored to be a mojado, where mine was Native born and a conservative...

You are not entirely correct, sir-my anti-government rebel Spanish Basque ancestors ditched Mexico in the 1780’s for the wilds of Texas and NM-and they were not alone, not were they the first to put distance between themselves and the greedy, cruel hands of the Spanish government-the Catholic church had established missions here long before then as well-but since it was the frontier, and a lot of Native tribes had no love for the Spanish, only ranchers and authority fighters were interested in the free-but-hard life, so it wasn’t exactly a population explosion...

there's an ingrained perception among many white people that all Latinos are foreign

Yeah? Prove it. Show me one white person who thinks that way. Otherwise, shove it up the semicolon it came out of. Shoddy journalism is practicing psychoanalysis without a license. There was no call to make such a ridiculous statement.
