Trudeau now finds himself up to his neck in the SNC-Lavalin scandal

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was already up to his neck in the SNC-Lavalin mess. On Wednesday, former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould pushed his head down further. It will be harder for the Liberal government to dig itself out of the deep hole she dug before the next campaign.

Less than a minute into her first comprehensive statement about the SNC-Lavalin affair, Wilson-Raybould had already announced her colours, stating that yes, she had been under “inappropriate” high-level political pressure to intervene in the judicial file of the Quebec-based engineering giant.

The funny thing is, the Liberals were probably on track to be re-elected this year, then they pull this garbage - all entirely self-inflicted.

In the early 2000s, they were caught accepting bags of cash in the Adscam Scandal - another Quebec scandal (there is no other kind in Canada) - and spent a decade being shunned by voters as a result. Trudeau Jr. was supposed to represent their resurgence.

Instead, Justin is now under a cloud of illegality, with growing calls for his resignation. But then, we always knew his incompetence would catch up to him - and that’s the situation we have now.

SNC Lavalin paid 10 million to at least one government official to get a contract to build a half billion dollar hospital in Montreal. Being found guilty of offering that bribe would result in them being cut off from bidding on Canadian Government contracts for 10 years... That’s billion and billions in potential contracts... How much do you think they would bribe somebody to avoid that???

Trudeau’s leadership has been amateur hour from the get go, and his inability to understand that replacing a Justice minster who wasn’t playing ball and reducing or ignoring the charges against SNC Lavalin like he asked her to, and then moving her to veterans affairs in an obvious effort to keep her quite, wasn’t going to work... Is flabbergasting. When she quit, he blamed her for not telling him to stop influencing her... Like it was her fault.

The best part... He’s pissing the base of the Liberal party off... The audacity is astounding. Woman and Indigenous people typically vote liberal. Removing the first indigenous woman to hold the post of Justice minister in Canadian history was the latest amateur move that may result in his ouster.

That’s the difference between Canada and the US... We don’t elect a king for 4 years... We elect a government and the governing party chooses their leader. They can also remove their leader and if the Liberals don’t remove Trudeau... They are headed for oblivion at the polls.

The real hilarious part... The CBC has been doing full bore coverage of Trump paying off a porn star, gleefully hoping for Trump to be impeached. Meanwhile, our Prime Minister and their dear leader who they support wholeheartedly and his party have taken bribes from a construction company.

Which action sounds more criminal in your mind? Taking bribes, or paying off bimbos?

That’s the best part about Trump... Unlike Just not ready Trudeau... He can’t be bought, bribed or coerced. Apparently, neither can Jody Wilson-Raybould and that be all she wrote for our childish and amateurish Prime Minister.

“Which action sounds more criminal in your mind? Taking bribes, or paying off bimbos?”

Obviously the bribes, as that involves paying government officials to be corrupt and hand out huge amounts of taxpayer money to entities which may not be the best ones to do the work (or may well be the best ones, but that’s not the point). It’s easy to forget that Canada has about 10% of the US population, so $500M is closer to $5B if it happened in the US, and $10M to one person is closer to $100M in the US, and even Obama and Hillary would be hard-pressed to reach that level of corruption, particularly in just one transaction.

The probably with taking that amount of money, besides the fact that it’s illegal, is that it’s hard for the briber to hide a transaction of that size, so it will be noticed. In Trump’s case, it was chump change to him, and if Mueller hadn’t been rifling through HIS ATTORNEY’S records, no one would have even noticed.

There are other kinds of scandal in Canada, it’s not exclusively a Quebec thing. Some are waiting to find the light of day, others have already been exposed. Probably the largest non-Quebec scandals will prove to be bribery of government officials by Chinese interests for economic gain not necessarily in the Canadian interest. The Ontario government had some horrendous scandals involving money wasted in the energy sector. Then we could find some cases where money was supposed to go to fixing up conditions on isolated native reserves and went into some fat cats’ pockets instead. The BC casinos have been laundering vast amounts of gang and drug money. The list is pretty long. Yes Quebec leads the league but there are lots of teams.

If this dope-addled and abortion-loving fool goes down on the typical Quebec crookery it will be just deserts.

If it wasn’t SNC Lavalin it would be Bombardier !

Trudeau will probably have to resign, if the puppetmasters behind the scenes tell him he’s done, then he’s done for sure, because the puppetmasters will tell his fellow Liberal MPs the same thing and they will force him out. Their vote of non-confidence in him in caucus would give him no option in our system, there’s no such thing as clinging to power in this kind of parliament, the party itself can do that under a new leader but if the caucus unites behind that person, there’s no constitutional way to speed up the mandated October election other than an appeal to the Governor General to dissolve parliament. The last time that happened (with considerable cause) it turned into a national sovereignty debate and the actual reasons for the dissolution were forgotten in the furore. The current Governor General is not going to do that. Back in 1926 when it was tried before, we had a headstrong male GG who was sent over from Britain, but it’s a long time since that was last done and our current GG is a female celebrity type appointment who won’t do much if anything to interfere. So some caretaker leader will probably emerge, lead the party to the normal time for dissolution (June before an October election date) and the election will be called. Then they will be back to third party status.

Another thing that went wrong for the Liberals was that their leftist opponent got into the House in a byelection and didn’t tank as they expected, but actually ended up looking fairly competent. So now they can’t just mop up his lost support from that side of their position which Canadians mistakenly think is centrist (sort of like Gorbachev was a centrist).

"Trudeau will probably have to resign..."

Well, maybe, but I think the country would be better off if he didn't and rode this right through the election. The libs would end up with a handful of Quebec seats.

Trudeau is the face, the soul, and the heart of the liberal party. It is a party of one man. There is no bench strength, there is no heir apparent. They rise and fall with this clown. It will be fun to watch.

I'm not sure if what you said here was tongue-in-cheek. If not, it's a dumb thing to say.

Trudeau won’t resign. He’s doubling down on stupid. He already made a statement last night where he basically said that the former AG is a liar. Anyone who observed her testimony will believe her over Trudeau. He’s even getting flack from usually reliable MSM sycophants. if he expels her from caucus - which he indicated he is considering - she will become a martyr and the entire focus of the October 2019 election. His canned speech last night were presented in a very robotic, insincere manner. Jody Wilson-Raybould radiated sincerity, competence and integrity. Trudeau won’t survive this at the ballot box.

It would be so funny to see Trudeau resign over this and have all those idiots on Twitter that thought he was better than Trump have to suck an egg.
