It needed 60 votes to advance through the legislative process but failed by seven votes as the final tally came to 53-44. All 44 “no” votes came from Democrats. Three of their number crossed over to vote with the Republicans.
The 60 votes needed is only a Senate rule, which can easily be changed by a simple majority.
Republicans can change this.
The House of Representatives was never going to even take up a vote on this bill.
If the GOP really gave a sh!t about infanticide, they would have passed this bill in 2017 or 2018 when they still controlled the House.
