Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announces 2020 presidential bid
CNN ^ | March 1, 2019 | Dan Merica

Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee announced Friday that he is running for President, launching a bid in which he intends to make combating climate change the central rationale for his campaign.

Inslee announced the bid in a video made public on Friday. He is slated to hold a news conference in Seattle at a solar panel installer to expand upon his presidential announcement. He will be surrounded by friends, family and business owners who the campaign says have benefited from his climate policies in the state.

"I'm Jay Inslee and I'm running for president because I am the only candidate who will make defeating climate change our nation's number one priority," the governor says in a more-than-a-minute-long video that highlights his decades-long focus on climate change and compares tackling the issue to President John F. Kennedy's focus on going to the moon.

“You have my sympathies. We just got back from Montana after a week there of zero degree weather. Other than skiing, it was just too cold to do much of anything else.”

Yes, it HAS been colder than usual this last three weeks...Have some friends visiting from Atlanta this week and they have been enjoying the skiing as well.

Warmer today (12 @ our home in the foothills, -8 @ the airport), though the high Sunday is -6 and we’re having our friends over for dinner - I’m grilling steaks!

Where were you? I’m north of YNP...

There are already around 20 Dems working Iowa. Confirmed.

And that doesn’t include some of the wealthy vanity candidates, who are almost certain to run.

It’s beginning to look like the California recall election of Gray Ravis.

But then again, the Republicans had 17 candidates in the 2016 runup.

Anybody got that old video of the frying pan with a sizzling egg that is captioned something like “your brain on drugs?” It seems appropriate for another delusional Leftist who would kill millions of us chasing an illusory problem.

Two words: Idiot constituents (concentrated in the west end of the state and able to outvote the normal people further east).

All the leftists loons I know are very concerned with getting free stuff which somebody else pays for . . . Climate change? Not so much.

“He wants to pocket the PAC money.”

I think you’re right. I’d like to see a system in which all campaign money from any source, including the candidate’s own pocket, goes into a pool and is divided equally among all qualified candidates. After the election, all unspent money is held in some kind of escrow account until the next election. Nobody gets to keep any of the money, and any that is spent other than for legitimate campaign expenses gets the candidate some prison time.

I’m not holding my breath waiting.

Washington state actually liked Bernie over Hillary

Sure about that? Bernie Sanders did win the state of Washington caucus, but fewer than 30,000 Democrats voted in that. Hillary Clinton won the state of Washington's primary in 2016 over Sanders, when over 700,000 Democrats participated.

Very simple. in the State of Washington, all voting is done by mail-in ballot. So, it doesn’t matter who votes, only who delivers the votes (U.S. Postal “Service”) and who counts the votes.
